Abstract: An air conditioning unit comprising a refrigeration assembly, an air handling assembly, and a control assembly. The refrigeration assembly includes a generally rectangular base pan having upturned edges and a floor having a raised section, the base pan having a condenser, an evaporator, and a compressor mounted to an upper surface thereof. The air handling assembly includes a bulkhead having adjacent side wall portions, a scroll, a motor having an output shaft, a motor mount bracket for engaging the base pan of the refrigeration assembly, a fan, and a blower engaging the output shaft of the motor, a fan shroud and struts for mounting the shroud to the bulkhead and an air plenum assembly. The control assembly includes a control housing and a control panel.

Abstract: An electronic controller for a room air conditioner includes a memory for storing operational parameters, a thermistor for measuring ambient temperature, and a microprocessor capable of calculating the difference between the ambient temperature and the temperature set point, and capable of controlling the speed of the fan and fan motor based on the difference between the ambient temperature and the temperature set point. The controller includes an electronic system clock, an electronic control panel with a display, the ability to store in memory a start time for normal operation of the room air conditioner and a stop time for ending normal operation of the room air conditioner, and a timer mode activation device.

Abstract: A clip-on retrofit drainage tray or trough is disclosed. The device has a full width tray fitting at the exposed back edge of a window unit or through-the-wall air conditioner, and is located just below the bottom of the sleeve to catch condensate. The dripping water is drained into the trough and out through a drain hole formed in the trough. The trough has an overhead clip attaching on a lip above the sleeve bottom.

Abstract: A heat pump system is provided which uses a combination variable orifice valve means and check valve means in place of a separate thermal expansion valve and a separate check valve in parallel fluid flow relationship therewith to control flow between the indoor coil and the outdoor coil.
