  • Patent number: 9047226
Abstract: A computing device having an optimized file system and methods for use therein. File system optimizations include sector-aligned writes, anchored cluster searches, anchored index searches, companion caches dedicated to particular file management data types and predictive cache updates, all of which expedite processing on the computing device. The file system optimizations are especially advantageous for data collection systems where an embedded device is tasked with logging to a target memory data received in a continuous data stream and where none of the streamed data is deleted until after the target memory has been offloaded to another device.

  • Patent number: 8918853
Abstract: Automatic recovery from loss of a security token on an embedded device is achieved by having a service provider (SP) server send to a device server a backup copy of the security token in conjunction with sending to an embedded device a primary copy of the security token, and retrieving from the device server and sending to the embedded device the backup copy of the security token upon detecting that the primary copy of the security token has been lost. The method and system obviate the need for a user to have to re-input on the embedded device a credential that is represented by the security token in the event the primary copy of the security token is erased from the embedded device or otherwise becomes inaccessible to the embedded device.

  • Publication number: 20130007586
Abstract: Web feed display templates are created and used to reduce the time and cost to conform web feeds to device constraints and content provider display guidelines. A web feed display template is customized for a particular type of device and a particular web feed. The display template is created by administrative input of values for predefined display parameters. The values are selected to conform the web feed to the constraints of the device and content provider display guidelines for the web feed. When a user of the device subscribes to the web feed, the display template is used to dynamically create web pages containing web feed items that conform to the constraints of the device and the content provider display guidelines.

  • Patent number: 8144006
Abstract: With a growing number of personal and shared devices that may be connected to the Internet, the number of devices on which a person may receive a message increases. Privacy in message delivery may become an issue when a message may be received on a shared device, for example, a television. Aspects of the present invention relate to systems and methods for displaying message alerts on shared and private devices according to user preferences.

  • Patent number: 7991019
Abstract: With the growing number of, both personal and shared, devices that may be connected to the Internet, the number of possible media sources that may provide input for a message increases, as does the complexity of message preparation. Additionally, with the introduction of shared devices, such as televisions, as media sources for messages, both authentication and security issues are of fundamental importance. Aspects the present invention are related to systems and methods for combining media inputs at an external, central server for messaging.

  • Publication number: 20080109866
Abstract: A system is disclosed for providing context-based sharing of TV input data over a secure communications link via the Internet. Data, such as image, music and video files and metadata, related directly to the media currently displayed on the television set by way of a broadcast medium may be captured and shared with peer users. This feature may be integral to the television set and it may be controlled by the television set's remote control.

  • Patent number: 6807312
Abstract: A method for data compression. An encoder receives data vectors from an original data set. The encoder uses a vector quantization codebook to encode the data vectors into encoded vectors. The codebook is constructed from a compound data set, where the compound data set includes real data vectors and artificial data vectors. The encoded vectors are indexed in the codebook and the indexes are transmitted across communication channels or transmitted to storage.
