  • Patent number: 6089892
Abstract: A communication cabling system wherein elongate communication distribution assemblies (CDAs) are joined serially together by connector units at opposite ends thereof. The interconnected CDAs include access ports or openings into which a tap unit may be inserted and connected to a circuit which is accessible through the access port. Each CDA can be adapted to carry a selected number of circuits wherein each connector unit at an opposite end of a CDA includes a block-like shielded housing having a predetermined number of mounting sockets on a back end thereof. A plurality of modular cable assemblies are provided which have plugs that plug into a respective one of the mounting sockets of the shielded housing so as to assemble a CDA. This system provides for the ready construction, installation and reconfiguration of the communication cabling system.

  • Patent number: 5888136
Abstract: A method of wagering, including the steps of providing a random number generator that has a wagering base which is randomly accessed by an input wager, using as at least a part of the wagering base the outcome of at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game, pre-assigning a probability value to the outcome of the at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game and programming the random number generator so that the probability of accessing the outcome of the at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game in the random number generator through an input wager is correlated to the probability value, directing an input wager identifying the outcome of the at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game to the random number generator and paying a return for an input wager identifying the outcome of the at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game that accesses the outcome of the at least one horse/dog race or jai alai game through the random number generator.

  • Patent number: 5734800
Abstract: A printing system for high fidelity printing of an image is provided comprising a print grid including a combination of the color black and five discrete basic ink colors, at least three colors having at least a portion of fluorescent. The printing system includes a spectrophotometer for measuring the color combination in the print grid. A plotter is used to plot readings from the spectrophotometer in CIE color space and creates a look up table based on the readings. A scanner then scans the image in RGB format and converts the scanned information into XYZ coordinates to be plotted in CIE color space. Thereafter, the scanner determines from the look up table the color combination for each scanned spot. In an exemplary embodiment, the five basic ink colors may be selected from a group of colors from the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM.RTM., while the fluorescent may be selected from a group consisting of PANTONE Fluorescents.

  • Patent number: 5659744
Abstract: A file store for use as a work-in-progress store. Each block in the store is designated as a free block, a data block, or a forget block. When it is required to write data to the file store, a data area is created, by assigning free blocks. When it is required to discard a data area, a forget block is written into the filestore, pointing to the data area, and all the data blocks in that area are freed and added to a free chain. If at least one of the blocks in the data area pointed to by a forget block is reused, the forget block is freed and added to the free chain. The file store has advantages of a serial file organization while avoiding the garbage collection problems associated with conventional serial files.

  • Patent number: 5388256
Abstract: A data processing system includes at least one transaction processing application and a plurality of data managers which can be accessed by the transaction processing application. Each data manager is responsible for managing a separate data base. The system further includes a work-in-progress store and a work-in-progress store manager for managing the work-in-progress store. Whenever the transaction processing application instructs a data manager to perform an update, the data manager passes information concerning the update to the work-in-progress store manager which records this information in the work-in-progress store, and whenever the application completes a transaction, the data managers perform updates to their respective databases and the work-in-progress store manager is instructed to discard the contents of the work-in-progress store relating to this transaction.

  • Patent number: 5240459
Abstract: A means and method for modifying the width of a racing surface of a racetrack having a movable barrier positioned between a stationary outer barrier and a stationary inner barrier, the movable barrier comprising pylons having a removable tethering means connecting the movable barrier to the inner stationary barrier, and also having a limiting means to enable the user to place the movable pylons in generally the same position prior to the beginning of every race. During the course of the race, the user will move the movable pylons off of the racing surface, thus increasing the width of the racing surface available to the horse and driver. In another embodiment, an inner lane of approximately 8-10 feet exists to increase the width of the racing surface during the stretch portion of the race.

  • Patent number: 4066213
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle assembly for internal combustion engines includes a nozzle holder encircled by a hollow screw for fastening the nozzle assembly to the cylinder head of the engine. The nozzle holder further includes an annular groove containing a snap ring device. Abutting the snap ring device is a retaining washer and disposed between the retaining washer and the hollow screw is a plurality of conical snap rings acting to urge the nozzle holder into the cylinder head when the hollow screw is tightened to fasten the nozzle assembly to the cylinder head.
