  • Patent number: 8638433
Abstract: A spectrophotometer including a light tube having a spectrophotometer head mounted to one end of the light tube and a diffraction grating head mounted to the opposite end. The spectrophotometer head having a bore therethrough for receiving incoming light from a light source providing a light path through the spectrophotometer head and light tube; Further, a slit is disposed in the light path and a vial of colored liquid is suspended halfway through the light path. The diffraction grating includes a bore aligned with the light path and includes a focusing lens and a diffraction grating disposed in the light path. The diffraction grating displaying a spectrum with an upper half displaying the spectrum of the light transmitted through the colored liquid and the lower half displaying the spectrum of the light source.

  • Patent number: 7414255
Abstract: The present invention relates to a Drop Counter for counting a succession of falling liquid drops. The Drop Counter includes a light emitting diode for providing a light beam directed to a falling liquid drop. A photo diode sensor is positioned in side-by-side relation with the light emitting diode and detects reflected light from the falling liquid drop. The photo diode sensor provides an output signal when reflected light is detected and further includes a counter for receiving the output signal and counting the number of times the output signals are received.

  • Patent number: 4668482
Abstract: For the recovery of uranium from a solution in which the uranium is in valence (VI), a solution is formed containing ammonium (NH.sub.4.sup.+), fluoride (F.sup.-) and sodium hydrosulfite (Na.sub.2 S.sub.2 O.sub.4). This forms a precipitate (NaNH.sub.4 UF.sub.6), a previously unreported compound. It can be dissolved in an aqueous solution of nitric acid, aluminum nitrate nonahydrate, Al(NO.sub.3).sub.3.9H.sub.2 O, or a mixture of the two. This produces uranyl nitrate hexahydrate, which can be purified by processes conventionally used for that purpose.
