    Abstract: LNG vapor from an LNG storage vessel is absorbed using C3 and heavier components provided by a fractionator that receives a mixture of LNG vapors and the C3 and heavier components as fractionator feed. In such configurations, refrigeration content of the LNG liquid from the LNG storage vessel is advantageously used to condense the LNG vapor after separation. Where desired, a portion of the LNG liquid may also be used as fractionator feed to produce LPG as a bottom product.

    Abstract: A device for verifying the calibration of an infrared sensor includes a body configured to be placed in orbit. The body defines a spin axis and an outer surface. The outer surface has an infrared radiant intensity that is substantially independent of the viewing angle between the spin axis of the body and the infrared sensor. The device may be used for on-orbit verification of the calibration coefficients associated with each pixel of an infrared sensor, including linearity calibration and verification of the resolution capability of the sensor. The calibration coefficients may be verified over the entire sensing capability range of the infrared sensor. After a thermal model of the device is developed, the device operates passively and provides a known source of infrared radiation observable during the device's entire orbital lifetime. The device may be designed to automatically de-orbit from space after a predictable time in orbit.

    Abstract: A compact, portable, radio-controlled on/off valve for use with a garden hose has low energy consumption by using a water-powered motor for driving the valve into open and closed positions. The on/off valve has a pilot device for starting water flow through the water-powered motor. A low-power local electrical energy source, such as a battery pack, powers the pilot device and a receiver for receiving control signals. Upon receiving a control signal, the pilot device is energized briefly to start water flow through the water-powered motor. The water-powered motor then moves the valve from a closed position to an open position, or from an open position to a closed position.
