  • Patent number: 4512139
Abstract: An actuating mechanism for a header drive reversing assembly on a combine is disclosed wherein the linkage for actuating the drive reverser is interconnected with the linkage for disengaging the primary drive so that the drive reverser cannot be actuated while the primary drive is operatively driving the header. The linkages are connected to a single control lever to prevent the actuation of the drive reverser while the primary drive is engaged. The control lever is pivotally mounted for movement along two generally perpendicular directions and is engageable with a forked bracket when positioned for actuating the drive reverser to control the direction of flow of hydraulic fluid to the drive reverser.

  • Patent number: 4467590
Abstract: A hydraulically driven drive reversing mechanism, attachable to a combine to reverse the drive to the header and feeder house components, is disclosed wherein the reversing mechanism is contained within a gearbox detachably connected with the header drive shaft. The reversing mechanism is substantially self-contained within the gearbox and connectable to a source of hydraulic power to provide an optional drive reversing capability for substantially any combine. The reversing mechanism includes a first gear splined onto the header drive shaft for rotation therewith, a second free wheeling gear mounted within the gearbox in an intermeshing relationship with the first gear for rotation therewith and a clutch selectively engageable with the second gear to transfer rotational power from a hydraulic motor to affect a rotation of the header drive shaft in a reverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4329835
Abstract: A latch for the hood member of the corn harvesting header is disclosed wherein the latching mechanism includes a self-centering guide device to provide a proper latching action to lock the hood member in an operative position. A stop affixed to the hood member and projecting inwardly therefrom is engageable with a V-shaped guide device formed into the latch lock mechanism to guide the stop into a notch formed in the latch lock mechanism. When the stop is seated in the notch, the latch is properly aligned with the latch lock mechanism for proper engagement therebetween. A release rod connected to the latch provides for convenient operation of the latching mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4244162
Abstract: A row unit for a corn harvesting header is disclosed wherein the frame of the row unit includes a box beam structure at the rear of the unit for housing the gearing necessary for driving the gathering chains and stalk rolls. This unitary row unit frame structure is mounted to the frame of the header by two pairs of Z-shaped clamp members to give a solid, stable, low cost and light weight row unit structure.

  • Patent number: 4227366
Abstract: A drive system for a corn harvesting header is disclosed wherein the power input shaft delivering rotational power to the individual row units is positioned externally of the gear housing. A slip clutch for each individual row unit is affixed to the power input shaft rearward of each gear housing and is connected thereto by an endless chain. This improved drive system allows maintenance of the row units without disturbing the power input shaft and maintenance of the slip clutches without disturbing the row units.

  • Patent number: 4075941
Abstract: A baler has improved linkage for controlling a needle safety latch mechanism being supported on the baler and biased for movement from a retracted position to an extended position for stopping the reciprocation of a plunger within a bale case on the baler if the timing between the plunger and a needle-carrying member on the baler is disrupted and the plunger moves on a working stroke when the needles are projected across the bale case and the path of the plunger. The improved linkage includes an elongated rigid member extending along the bale case and pivotally interconnected at one end to the latch mechanism and a link pivotally coupled adjacent one of its ends to pivot means which also pivotally mounts the needle-carrying member. The link adjacent an opposite one of its ends is pivotally coupled to an opposite end of the elongated member. Also, the link includes a portion disposed in the path of movement of the needle-carrying member.
