  • Patent number: 6468647
Abstract: Infrared reflective visually colored metal substrates or metal-coated particles are prepared by burnishing colored pigments into the metal. Proper selection of the pigment allows for intense visual color without degradation of the infrared reflective properties. The resulting visually colored infrared reflective composition may be utilized in a variety of applications, such as coatings, fabrics, tapes, and face paint, to provide infrared signature control as well as visual camouflage.

  • Patent number: 5892476
Abstract: A strong lightweight composition containing inorganic coated microparticles which, when dispersed in a binder, produce a matrix having broad band absorption properties for electromagnetic radiation in the infrared and microwave regions and is useful as a thin coating or as a structural composite material in various applications for multispectral absorbers. The microparticles have a mean diameter of from 1 to 500 microns and are coated with the reaction product of a metal and a nonmetal.

  • Patent number: 4461270
Abstract: A charcoal starter-burner of the general type exemplified by U.S. Pat. No. 4,321,907 has a perforate grate hinged at one side and spaced inwardly from the inner wall of a tubular housing. The hinge axis defines a side of the grate of greater extent and a side of lesser extent, the grate being substantially planar on the side of greater extent and being bent down from that plane to define a lip on the side of lesser extent, the lip being at an angle of between 30.degree. and 50.degree. from the upper surface of the planar side of greater extent of the grate. The tubular housing is provided with a stop projecting into the housing above the grate at a side opposite the hinge axis and with two holes located chordally with respect to one another, symmetrically with respect to the stop and immediately below the grate.

  • Patent number: 4321907
Abstract: A charcoal starter-burner of the general type exemplified by Byars and Johnson U.S. Pat. No. 3,116,704, has a perforate grate hinged at one side and spaced inwardly from the inner wall of a tubular housing, a leg connected to support the grate in charcoal retaining position and a foot connected to the lower end of the leg. The foot has a trigger part projecting beyond the periphery of the tubular housing and a latching arrangement for engaging and holding the trigger in leg-supporting position and for releasing the trigger to permit the foot to swing free of the bottom edge of the housing. The foot extends in paper-retaining position adjacent the lower end of the housing.
