  • Patent number: 9476009
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of producing fatty acid alkyl esters from a lipid, comprising steps of introducing a gas comprising vapor of an alcohol selected from methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, iso-propanol and butanols, into the lipid in a form of bubbles to enable the bubbles to pass through the lipid and be discharged from the lipid. The product may then be subjected to a transesterification process catalyzed by a base catalyst. The present invention is robust with low quality feedstocks thus significantly reduce production cost for biodiesel.

  • Patent number: 9150772
Abstract: The present invention relates to flameless heating apparatus for food products. In particular, the present invention relates to an improved potentially exothermic mixture/blend for such heaters and to a meal package including foods, and heating apparatus. It is known to have food products such as rations for back-packer, adventurers and military forces which comprise hermetically sealed packages of food which can be heated without flame, on demand. Such food products and apparatus are collectively referred to as Meals-Ready-to-Eat (“MRE”). In addition to the above uses, the products can be used as emergency rations for shelters and for heating of non-food products. Currently MRE packages yield hydrogen as a by-product. The present invention seeks to improve the efficiency of the reaction. In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a composition operable to provide thermal output with no or an insignificant production of any flammable gasses.

  • Patent number: 9058504
Abstract: A self-protection application executes in kernel mode and manages access to processes and files related to an associated anti-malware application. The self-protection application monitors executing processes on the client device and detects the processes that are attempting to access files/processes related to the anti-malware software. These processes and files are verified by the self-protection application using digital signature authentication. Trusted processes such as those originating from the anti-malware software or other authorized programs are allowed access while other processes are restricted access.

  • Patent number: 9048521
Abstract: A broadband waveguide incorporates various reflection suppression techniques to reduce reflections in signals communicated thereby. The waveguide includes one or more filaments that each include a first and second end. A first matrix may be configured proximate the first end(s) while a second matrix may be configured proximate an intermediate location between the first and second ends. A damping material may cover a portion of the filament(s) that extends from the second matrix to the second end(s) (including the second end(s) themselves) and/or the second end(s) of the filament(s) is/are shaped to at least partially suppress reflections of the signal therefrom. When configured with multiple filaments, at least two of the filaments may have differing lengths that extend from the second matrix and also operate to at least partially suppress reflections of a signal.

  • Patent number: 8881095
Abstract: A method of software defect prediction by a computer is provided. The method comprises identifying software test organizations scheduled to perform testing on an application or applications, where the scope of the software testing varies between different test organizations, identifying the type of test cases to be executed by each test organization, where the test types comprise at least one of new functionality test and regression test, and identifying a planned number of test cases to be executed for each test type. A forecast number of defects are modeled by a computer based on the planned number of test cases to be executed and a defect rate for each test type. The development staffing level capable of fixing forecast defects by the scheduled completion of testing is calculated by the computer based on a fix capacity of a software development organization. Development resources are assigned to fix defects based on the calculated development staffing level.
