The preferred embodiment has a universal backbox which contains a lightboard capable of lighting up any and/or all sections of a pictorial artwork placed above it, a hidden electric eye for detecting when the viewer wishes to see a snippet of an audio-visual sequence, a speaker, a memory for storing snippets of an audio sequence, and a microprocessor which receives signals from the electric eye and controls the speaker and the lightboard in accordance with an audio-visual sequence which brings to life the pictorial artwork.
