  • Publication number: 20130292624
Abstract: A connector to connect a railing to a post comprising a male bracket that attaches to the railing and which has a front surface on which is provided an elongate tenon that widens outwardly from the front surface. The tenon is tapered from its bottom towards a wider top end, and it also narrows in thickness from the top end towards the thinner bottom end. The connector also includes a female bracket that attaches to the post and which has a front surface in which is provided a slot that widens inwardly from the front surface. The slot also tapers from a bottom end towards a wider top end, and it also narrows in thickness from the top end towards the thinner bottom end. The slot and tenon are complementary so as to together, providing a snug joint between the brackets when the tenon is completely received within the slot.

  • Publication number: 20120131879
Abstract: A post anchoring device for anchoring posts used in fence, deck, balcony and railing applications to a surface, the device comprising a base member capable of being connected to the surface, and an elongate, preferably cylindrical, tubular member having a base end and a terminal end, the base end being connected to the base member and the terminal end being remote from the base member such that the post may be impaled upon the tubular member by a user. The walls of the tubular member at the terminal end may be beveled to provide a cutting edge for cutting into the post to facilitate the impalement of the post. The base member may include a peripheral flange with a peripheral edge for abutting the end of the post thereby defining a cavity in which fasteners or other hardware may be concealed from sight for an aesthetically pleasing result.

  • Publication number: 20120125051
Abstract: Delivery apparatus include an electrical circuit configured to heat a linear conduit and an elbow conduit. A first electrode can be mounted to an upstream portion of the linear conduit, a second electrode can be mounted downstream of the upstream portion, and a third electrode can be mounted to a curved segment of the elbow conduit within a footprint extension of a first passage of the linear conduit. In further examples, a delivery apparatus includes an electrical circuit with a first electrode mounted to an upstream portion of a linear conduit, a second electrode mounted to a downstream portion of the linear conduit, and a third electrode mounted to an elbow conduit. In still further examples, methods of heating molten glass include application of an electrical current such that neither a current flux through a linear conduit nor a current flux through an elbow conduit exceeds 8 amps/mm2.

  • Publication number: 20080034798
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved apparatus for forming sheet glass, wherein the apparatus includes a reservoir from which to provide molten glass, an inlet plate in fluid communication with the reservoir to receive the molten glass from the reservoir in a flow direction, the inlet pipe having a cross-sectional area orthogonal to the fluid direction, and a trough in fluid communication with the inlet pipe to receive the molten glass and that is operably coupled to a wedge-shaped sheet forming structure to form the molten glass into a glass sheet. The improvement comprises a bowl that provides fluid communication between the inlet pipe and the trough, the bowl having a cross-sectional area orthogonal to a fluid direction at the molten through the bowl that is equal to or less than the cross-sectional area of the inlet pipe, thereby preventing stagnation of the molten glass within the bowl.

  • Publication number: 20060159795
Abstract: An apparatus and method for stiffening an wet extruded ceramic body for improved handling prior to drying and firing. The ceramic body is formed from a plastically deformable material including inorganic raw materials, and organics, such as a binder having a thermal gel point. As the ceramic body log exits the extruder die it is passed through a microwave energy field to be heated to above the gelling point of the organic binder. The ceramic body then stiffens and can be easily handled without deformation.

  • Patent number: 6876728
Abstract: The present invention allows telephony users and on-line users to communicate with one another using an instant messaging (IM) service. The on-line user will provide and receive textual messages, wherein the telephony user will provide and receive corresponding audible messages. These messages may convey emotion using associated emotional indicia, such as emoticons, or other emotional indicia, including the use of capitalization, emphasis, and the like. Emotional indicia provided in the text messages from the on-line user are audibly conveyed to the telephony user. Similarly, emotional indicia provided by the telephony user in the form of actual emotions or commands are provided in text to the on-line user.
