  • Patent number: 5161578
Abstract: A valve is provided with one inlet and two outlets with one of the outlets being normally closed by a valve in the form of a film disc carried by a flexible blade. A magnetic pad secured to the blade is attracted by the proximity of an actuator carrier magnetic element to cause the flexing of the blade to open the normally closed outlet and to close the normally open outlet. The actuator may be either thermally or electrically actuated and is suitable to override a bleed thermostat to permit warm-up of an overcooled area or to cause a switchover in operation between a heating and cooling mode by connecting the appropriate bleed thermostat so as to control the inflation of the bellows.

  • Patent number: 4454891
Abstract: An air gap drain module for use with the dispensing head of a reverse osmosis dispensing system for potable water has an inner waste water tube and an outer drain tube which are disposed concentric to each other at one end and for a portion of the length of the inner tube adjacent the concentric end. An air gap in the form of spaced slots is provided adjacent the concentric end of the drain tube and a closure is connected to the common end of the waste water tube and drain tube with an annular flange or skirt thereon in assembled position disposed to extend between the waste water tube and the drain tube to form an annular passage about the waste water tube and direct the movement of process water issuing from the concentric end of the waste water tube into the drain tube. The closure forms a chamber or trap with the adjacent end of the waste water tube which in conjunction with the spaced slots prevent back flow into the waste water tube.

  • Patent number: 4249695
Abstract: A thermally actuated modulating valve preferably for fail safe energy conservation systems includes a valve body having, a main inlet for cold source water, an outlet for heated water, and a fluid transfer chamber connected for delivering heated water to the outlet. A proportioning slide valve assembly formed in said valve body connected to the main inlet to receive cold water therefrom includes, spaced outlets, a slide valve to vary the volume of cold water delivered respectively through the spaced outlets, one of said spaced outlets for delivering varying volumes of cold water to be heated. The valve body has a mixing chamber connected to one of the spaced outlets of the proportioning slide valve assembly to receive cold water therefrom, an inlet for the heated water from the other of said spaced outlets, an outlet for delivering the mixture of cold and heated water to the fluid transfer chamber.

  • Patent number: 4175697
Abstract: A thermally actuated phase change operated control valve has, a valve body with a bore therethrough the walls of which define a valve chamber, the valve body has a manifold assembly about the valve body and a medially disposed first port means in the valve body connects the valve chamber with the manifold assembly. Spaced second and third port means in the valve body respectively disposed on opposite sides of said first port means permit valve head means slidably disposed in said valve chamber for movement relative said first port means to direct fluid either from the valve chamber to one or the other of said second and third port means or vice versa depending on whether the control valve is operated as a diverter valve or as a mixing valve or if desired one of the spaced second or third port means can be rendered inoperative and the control valve can be operated as a thermal check valve.

  • Patent number: 4060198
Abstract: A dispensing head for use in a fluid dispensing system has a base member made from an inert plastic material with locking guide means at the lower section thereof and boss means at the upper section. The boss means has a shoulder a predetermined distance from the locking guide means and a control valve cavity which extends into the base member from the upper surface of the boss means so as to communicate with an inlet for fluid to be dispensed and an outlet for dispensing said fluid respectively disposed in the base member a spaced distance therefrom.
