  • Publication number: 20130331932
Abstract: Methods for easy, atraumatic access to areas of the vasculature that are otherwise difficult to access, using steerable guide catheters constructed with components that are selected to provide optimal navigability, torque transfer, and push ability for a variety of typical percutaneous access routes. The catheter wall thickness in the deflecting segment of the guide catheter is about 1 French (? mm) or less, and includes a slotted deflection tube, and this construction allows a very tight turning radius which in turn enables guide catheter access to regions of the vasculature that are otherwise inaccessible.

The catheter wall thickness in the deflecting segment of the guide catheter is about 1 French (1/3 mm) or less, and includes a slotted deflection tube, and this construction allows a very tight turning radius which in turn enables guide catheter access to regions of the vasculature that are otherwise inaccessible.

  • Publication number: 20130059257
Abstract: A gas burner including a burner body having a lower housing, an inlet conduit and a combustion surface element attached to the lower housing. A diffuser/reflector positioned within the body encourages even distribution and mixing of a combustible gas/air mixture. The diffuser/reflector is preferably of a sheet metal construction and includes a plurality of stamped openings with each of these openings having an overhanging guide plate. The combustion surface element includes a plurality of integrally formed rigidizing ribs and is made from a high temperature steel alloy wire cloth. The inlet conduit is secured directly or indirectly to an access door/bulkhead that is used to close off an access opening formed in a water heater wall through which the burner is installed. In one construction, an air scoop shrouds the inlet conduit and at least partially defines a flow path of primary air, substantially isolated from the combustion chamber.

  • Publication number: 20120219185
Abstract: An apparatus and a computer-implemented method are provided for determining a location in a target image (T) of a site on a surface of a physical object using two or more reference images (I1, I2) of said physical object that have been obtained with a reference imaging device. Each of said two or more reference images includes said site on the surface of the physical object and was obtained with the reference imaging device having a different position and/or orientation relative to said physical object. The target image is obtained by a target imaging device and includes the site on the surface of the physical object. For each reference image, a set of feature mappings from the reference image to the target image is used to determine the epipolar geometry between the reference image and the target image, and a projection of the site from the reference image onto the target image is calculated from said epipolar geometry.

  • Publication number: 20120183918
Abstract: An apparatus and method for detecting infected tissue are disclosed. The apparatus comprises a light source for producing a light beam and an optical element having an input end optically coupled to the light source and an output end arranged to direct the light beam as a confocal beam into tissue. The apparatus also comprise a detector optically coupled to the optical element to receive a return beam back from the tissue stimulated by the confocal beam and to generate an output dependent upon the return beam.

  • Patent number: 8214839
Abstract: File resources that are most likely to be used on a target computer are proactively cached, so that the resources are available before they are needed. This greatly reduces or eliminates associated user wait times. It is determined which file resources are most likely to be used, the cost of transmitting them to the cache, the cost of storing them in the cache and the amount of cache space available. Based on a weighted balancing analysis of factors such as these, specific file resources are proactively streamed for use on the target computer. The determination as to which resources are most likely to be used can be based on a variety of factors, such as usage patterns, schedule based information, user and group based information, target computer and network information, etc.

  • Patent number: 8187450
Abstract: The present invention relates, generally, to a method and apparatus for electrowinning metals, and more particularly to a method and apparatus for copper electrowinning using the ferrous/ferric anode reaction. In general, the use of a flow-through anode—coupled with an effective electrolyte circulation system—enables the efficient and cost-effective operation of a copper electrowinning system employing the ferrous/ferric anode reaction at a total cell voltage of less than about 1.5 V and at current densities of greater than about 26 Amps per square foot (about 280 A/m2), and reduces acid mist generation. Furthermore, the use of such a system permits the use of low ferrous iron concentrations and optimized electrolyte flow rates as compared to prior art systems while producing high quality, commercially saleable product (i.e., LME Grade A copper cathode or equivalent), which is advantageous.

  • Patent number: 8140782
Abstract: Embodiments in accordance with the invention permit a virtualization application to interact with a SuperFetch feature of an operating system so that on creation of a virtualization layer the SuperFetch feature is provided the opportunity to act on the newly available file system objects of the virtualization layer. Further, when the virtualization layer is removed, embodiments in accordance with the invention remove the file system objects associated with the virtualization layer from utilization by the SuperFetch feature.
