  • Patent number: 8607417
Abstract: A device for termination of synthetic rope, with an eye socket substantially free of sharp edges, a bale at the top of the eye socket with an eye for attachment of connecting links, a groove for receiving synthetic rope. In addition, the device includes a bale with extended sides at the top of the eye socket, a thimble within a synthetic rope eye contained within the extended sides and restrained from translation by pin. A shroud is also provided for protection at the bottom of the eye socket at the synthetic rope splice. The device is intended to aid in the efficient and safe connections to other objects such as other synthetic mooring lines, steel wire rope, and anchor chains.

  • Patent number: 8517439
Abstract: The detachable ears rope thimble comprised of thimble body, detachable ears and having the optional features of bale, main load pin sub assembly, and a restraning load sub assembly. The inventive thimble provides very high load capacity ability for wire or synthetic ropes. Furthermore the thimble assembly enables eye splicing on new ropes yet allows for the thimble addition to previously formed eyes without resplicing the eyes. The invention provides a thimble that fully contains even the oversize found in fresh synthetic ropes protecting them within an array of detachable ears from abrasion. The outer body has smooth form with embedded detachable ears and rounded edges preventing synthetic fiber damage.

  • Patent number: 7431622
Abstract: A berthing facility and method of docking a maritime vessel that features greatly improved stability and is suitable at a wide range of depths. The floating berth is made up of a plurality of buoy components protected by a fendering assembly which constitutes the breasting and mooring dolphins of a conventional fixed berth. The fendering assembly presents shock-absorbing fender panels that help absorb the impact from docking ships, the combined system allowing absorption of large berthing energies with reduced reactions and greater safety. The buoy components are preferably each of a type known commercially as a Satellite Separator Platform (SSP).
