  • Patent number: 5503136
Abstract: An arrow rest for attachment to a bow includes a bracket assembly having a first portion adapted for attachment to the bow and a second portion supporting a generally horizontal pivotal rest arm adapted to support a shaft of an arrow. The rest arm has a free end extending upward to engage a side portion of the arrow. A generally vertical pivot pin extends through the second portion of the bracket and is attached to a second end of the rest arm to allow the rest arm to pivot. A pivotal magnet support is rigidly connected to the pivot pin, and a magnet is connected rigidly to the magnet support. A magnetic material is connected in fixed relationship to the rest arm, the magnetic material having its magnetic poles oriented to bias the rest arm so as to urge its free first end toward a side of a window of the bow. Alternate embodiments include a spring biased arrangement and a weight biased arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5213090
Abstract: An arrow rest mechanism for attachment to a bow includes a bracket rigidly attached to the bow and an arrow rest assembly having at least one resilient arm supporting a shaft of a released arrow and absorbing vertical force due to spine or vertical plane flexing the arrow as it is released. A hinge pivotally connects the resilient arm to the bracket, a pivot axis of the arm being located slightly ahead of the point at which the resilient arm supports the arrow. The arm pivots forward in reaction to being struck by spiral fletching of the released arrow, thereby imparting minimal upward counter-force to the tail end of the released arrow. Erratic flight of the arrow due to spine of the released arrow is nearly eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4534568
Abstract: An archery arrow includes a tubular aluminum housing attached in an opening in the leading end of an aluminum arrow shaft. A hard insert with a plurality of thin, circular, annular, peripheral ridges is rotatably disposed in the housing, the smooth interior surface of the housing and the smooth surfaces of the ridges providing a very low friction bearing. The insert includes a threaded opening for receiving the threaded end of a stud of a broad blade arrowhead. During flight, the shaft spins rapidly due to offset fletching on the trailing end of the arrow, but the broad blade arrowhead spins relatively little, thereby avoiding windplaning of the arrow, and also substantially increasing penetration of the arrowhead into a target.

  • Patent number: 4133334
Abstract: An arrow supporting device for use with an archery bow which includes a mounting plate adapted to be affixed to the archery bow, and a closed loop spring member having two ends pivotally attached at the ends to the mounting plate. The closed loop spring member is biased to extend laterally of the mounting plate in order to support an arrow in a predetermined relationship to the archery bow as the arrow is readied for release. The closed loop spring member is movable towards the mounting plate to permit the stabilizing structure of the arrow to clear the arrow supporting device with a minimum of resistance to minimize arrow deflection. Said loop spring member includes two spaced apart arms.
