Publication number: 20240157038Abstract: A blood processing device includes a pump system, a valve system, a centrifuge, and a controller configured and/or programmed to control the operation of the pump system, the valve system, and the centrifuge to execute a blood separation procedure. The blood separation procedure executed by the controller includes pumping blood into the centrifuge, separating the blood in the centrifuge into red blood cells and plasma, and collecting portions of the separated red blood cells and plasma. Subsequently, a portion of the collected red blood cells is pumped back into the centrifuge to collect an additional amount of the separated plasma. A buffy coat or white blood cell layer may be formed between the separated red blood cells and plasma in the centrifuge. If so, a portion of the collected plasma may be pumped back into the centrifuge to harvest the buffy coat or white blood cell layer.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2023Publication date: May 16, 2024Inventors: Benjamin E. Patent number: 8879085Abstract: Automatic print failure detection and correction are presented. An image is produced on media as it passes through a printer, the image produced by a first print head of the printer. The image is then inspected as it appears on the media for a predefined quality level. When the quality level is unacceptable, remote network notifications can be sent from the printer for proactive maintenance to be performed on the printer. In addition, when the quality level is unacceptable, a copy of the image can be automatically reproduced on an opposite side of the media using a different print head of the printer.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2010Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: NCR CorporationInventors: Michael J. VanDemark, Richard E. Brown

Patent number: 7272516Abstract: Methodologies adjust a component failure rate for electric power network reliability analysis. A component may include subcomponents and the failure of each subcomponent may be feature dependent. Features are measurable or observable inputs, which can affect the life of one or more subcomponents. The failure rate of a particular component may be obtained according to its real conditions. The methodologies can be used to do condition-based reliability analysis for electric power networks, in order to obtain a maintenance/replacement/operation strategy.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2003Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Assignee: ABB ResearchInventors: Zhenyuan Wang, Jiuping Pan, David Lubkeman, Richard E. Patent number: 4739368Abstract: A microform reader-printer apparatus includes a viewing screen having ruler-like fiducial marks that are indicative of distance from an edge of an image frame being viewed. The apparatus includes a keyboard permitting the operator to input data to a printer control regarding the portion of the image frame which is desired to be copied by the printer. In the printing mode the portion of the image frame selected for reproduction is printed using an electrophotographic reproduction engine. An electro-static image of the image selected for reproduction is formed on a photoconductive drum by translating a pair of scanning mirrors. Means including a notched bracket movable with the scanning mirror is provided for controlling the "on" time of a projection lamp and/or corona charger so that electrostatic image formation occurs only for the portion of the image frame selected for reproduction.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 1986Date of Patent: April 19, 1988Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Eugene W.
