Abstract: A car seat is provided for restraining a child seated in the car seat. The car seat includes a seat shell having a bottom seat portion and a back support portion. A barrier shield is supported above the bottom seat portion and is pivotable from an initial position to a child-restraining position. A child-restraining harness is attached to the seat shell and extends over an upper torso of the child when the child is seated in the car seat to restrain forward motion of the child. The child-restraining harness is connected to the barrier shield. The barrier shield is located at the initial position when a child is harnessed in the child seat. The child-restraining harness moves the barrier shield from the initial position to a child-restraining position when the upper torso of the child harnessed into the child seat moves forward to push against the child-restraining harness.

Abstract: A child car seat is provided for restraining a child seated in the car seat. The child car seat includes a seat assembly and a restraint shield. The restraint shield includes a fixed portion coupled to the seat assembly and a movable portion configured to move relative to the fixed portion and seat assembly between a plurality of positions. The movable portion is formed to include an interior region and the fixed portion is positioned to lie wholly in the interior region of the movable portion.

Abstract: A level indicator for a child seat equipped with a rotatable carrying handle rotatably attached thereto, and having a housing in a hub of said pivotal handle with a wall defining an interior region of said hub and an indicator member having an indicator surface. The indicator member is movably received in the interior region and the wall is formed to include a transparent window defined by an edge formed in the wall, the edge being arranged so that the indicator surface is visible through the window when the level indicator is level, with the indicator member moving entirely away from the window edge when the level indicator is not level so that the indicator surface is not visible through the window. The indicator member is disclosed as being a gravity ball that freely rotates in a curved track or a pendulum rotating in the handle.

Abstract: A restraining system is provided for a child. The restraining system includes a base mountable to a car seat and an infant carrier including a shell received by the base. A clamp arm engages the shell and couples the shell to the base. The clamp arm is movable to a release position disengaged from the shell. The restraining system further includes a release button mounted to the shell for movement to an activated position engaging and moving the clamp arm to the release position.

Abstract: Carrier apparatus includes a handle mounted for rotation about an axis and limited axial movement in a middle portion of the frame. The frame is pivotably mounted to the infant seat. The frame is a generally U-shaped pivotable member including a first arm, a second arm, and a middle portion interconnecting first and second arms. The handle can be rotated about the axis to a selected angular position to change the angular orientation of the handle relative to the middle portion.

The child seat also includes a T-shaped bar including a post having a base mounted to the shell and a tip. The T-shaped bar also includes an elongated transverse cross member appended to the tip and arranged to lie in perpendicular relation to the post. The cross member swings between a child-restraining position above the seat bottom and a down-out-of-the-way position below the seat bottom. The base is mounted to pivot about a pivot axis and the cross member is spaced-apart from the pivot axis to overlie legs of a child seated on the seat bottom when the cross member is in the child-restraining position.

Abstract: A seat tray assembly is provided for use with a high chair. The seat tray assembly includes a tray bottom formed for engagement with and extension between arms of the chair and a tray top mounted on the tray bottom for sliding movement relative to and above the tray bottom. In addition, the tray assembly includes a lock unit for selectively locking the tray top on the tray bottom to cause the slidable tray top to occupy a memory position lying on the tray bottom so that the tray top is returned automatically to the memory position each time the tray bottom is mounted on the arms of the chair.

Abstract: A chair includes a multi-position seat and a frame assembly for supporting the seat in a selected position above a floor underlying the seat. The seat includes a seat bottom and a seat back positioned to lie adjacent to the seat bottom. The seat back is formed to include a guide channel receiving a portion of the frame assembly therein. The frame assembly includes a pedestal and a frame coupled to the pedestal and arranged to pass through, slide in, and pivot in the guide channel formed in the seat back. The frame assembly further includes at least one seat support link and a latch assembly. Each seat support link has one end pivotally coupled to the frame and another end pivotally coupled to the seat to allow the seat to be moved relative to the frame by a caregiver between selected positions.

Abstract: A chair is provided which includes a first floor and seat engaging frame member and a second floor and seat engaging frame member pivotally joined to one another to permit collapsing of the chair from an erected seating position to a substantially coextensive position. In addition, the first and second frame members each include a substantially straight bight end portion angled with respect to the respective frame members. Also included is a seat surface-providing member of a shape having a first pocket for engaging and enclosing an extremity of the first bight of the first frame member and at a second end a second pocket for engaging and enclosing an extremity of the second bight of the second frame member. The first and second bight end portions provide the only support for the seat-supporting member.

Abstract: A movable storage container is provided for use under a piece of furniture having at least one leg. The container includes a frame, a basket mounted on the frame for movement therewith, and a hinge. The basket is formed to include an item-storage region therein. The hinge is formed to pivot about an axis of a leg of a piece of furniture and coupled to the frame so that the frame end basket are movable as a unit relative to the piece of furniture about the leg.
