  • Patent number: 4901971
Abstract: A Christmas tree stand includes a flat-bottomed, water-tight canister supported by adjustable legs mounted thereon, the adjustability feature accommodating uneven surfaces and crooked tree trunks. The interior of the canister has a transverse pentagonal shape, open at the top and bounded by side walls, a rear wall and a pair of convergent front walls, the latter forming an angled juncture. A screw crank extends through the rear wall transversely centered in, and above the middle thereof, opposite said juncture. The screw crank urges a rectangular free-floating push plate positioned in the canister's interior against the trunk of a Christmas tree positioned in the interior between the junction and the push plate. Rotation of the screw crank advances the screw end of the crank, applying pressure against the push plate, and through the latter against the tree, thereby positioning and securing the tree in the stand.

  • Patent number: 4492375
Abstract: Physical exercise apparatus is disclosed that has a column, a sleeve slidably engaging and lockable at selected positions along the column, a lever pivotally connected to the sleeve and a removable bench connected to the column. Endless elastic bands or torsional springs may be attached to the lever and to the sleeve to provide variable resistance to pivoting of the lever or the lever may be connected to the sleeve so as to restrict pivoting of the lever.

  • Patent number: 4182070
Abstract: A two-part box surrounds the bait in the back of the box on all sides, except in front, where the box area is closed by a swinging door supported from its upper edge and spring-urged to a closed position. The door is manually set in an open position in a generally horizontal direction and releasably held there by a support pin or trip rod which is supported to move freely in vertical direction through an opening in the bottom, and the pin is held in the support position when the box is resting on a surface and the door is resting on the pin. On removal of the box away from the surface, the pin drops down and the door closes, so no one can touch the bait until the door is manually re-set in open position.
