  • Patent number: 7962081
Abstract: There is disclosed an improved fuser cleaning system in which a strip of flexible material, including first second and third portions, is fed from a source roll to a take-up roll in such a manner that a fuser roll is cleaned or oiled. A first detectable mark may be disposed on a side of the strip of flexible material in one of the first and second portions. During operation of the fuser cleaning system, the third portion is taken up by the take-up roll and when an amount of the third portion is taken up by the take-up roll, the first detectable mark is detected by a sensor and a signal, indicating that the amount of the third portion has been taken up by the take-up roll, is transmitted to a controller. A second detectable mark may be disposed on the side of the strip of flexible material.

  • Patent number: 7105063
Abstract: A method of treating a fuser member surface to extend the life thereof includes applying to the fuser member surface an ethylene diamine tetraacetate. In addition, the fuser member may be subjected to a sonic treatment during the application of the ethylene diamine traacetrate in order to remove additional materials therefrom that are resistant to removal by the ethylene diamine traacetate.

  • Patent number: 5710968
Abstract: A dual path sheet feeder is disclosed including a bypass transport loop and a main transport loop for selectively delivering sheets from a sheet feeding module to either a printer processing module or to a finishing module, wherein a movable gate situated adjacent to the bypass transport loop is provided for directing sheets along a predetermined path of travel. The movable gate is selectively positionable between a first position for directing the sheets through the main transport loop to the processing module to produce copy sheets prior to delivering the copy sheets to the finishing module and a second position for directing the sheets through the bypass transport loop to deliver insert sheets directly to the finishing module, circumventing the processing module.

  • Patent number: 5489969
Abstract: A technique is provided for controlling the interposition of one or more special sheets into a stream of regular imaged substrates. In one example, a point in time at which a special insert sheet should be fed from a special insertion sheet subsystem to the stream is determined by reference to plural sets of preset time periods. In this example, the preset time periods can be adjusted to accommodate print engine/interposing module machine clock fluctuations. In another example, interposition of a special insert sheet with the stream of regular imaged substrates is maintained at an acceptable level by comparing a distance between a special insert sheet fed to the stream and an adjacent regular imaged substrate with a predefined tolerance. The comparison can then be used to adjust feed times of special insert sheets subsequently fed to the stream.

  • Patent number: 4417801
Abstract: A copy sheet registration arrangement is arranged for a copier/finisher system. Sheets which are transported to a compiler station for the finisher are subject to two-step registration positioning. In the first step, the sheets are shifted from a centerline of the paper path leaving the copier to a parallel centerline of the paper path to the compiler station. In so shifting, they are course registered on an edge parallel to the centerlines, the edge being the top edge of each sheet as viewed when reading. In this manner, the registration is equally effective regardless of the various sizes copy sheets may take. A second top edge registration which is more accurate and a side edge registration occur.
