    Abstract: A separating device for severing perforated tube sections includes an advancing mechanism and a tearing mechanism which respectively include opposing rollers or cylinders which are situated on both sides of the tubular web to be separated and over which endless transport bands are guided. The rollers or cylinders of the tearing mechanism can be moved in the direction toward the tubular web by a control element. The opposing rollers or cylinders in the tearing mechanism are respectively situated in swivel arms that are arranged such that they swivel around swiveling axes that oppose one another in the transport direction of the tubular web and the swivel arms swivel apart in opposite directions.

    Abstract: A device for removal of slips from a continuously transported slip web is composed of an advancement roll pair which continuously advances and holds the slip web. A blade cylinder pushes a respective lead end of a slip into an open gripper of a gripper cylinder. A device is arranged between the advancement roll pair and the blade cylinder and provides transverse perforated lines. A rotating tear-off segment cooperates with the blade cylinder. In order to enable a simple and rapid adaptation to different slip formats, the advancement speed of the advancement rolls, the transverse perforating device and the angle of action of the tear-off segment are correspondingly changed relative to the blade cylinder.

    Abstract: A device for transferring slips of paper from a first rotationally-driven cylinder to a second rotationally-driven cylinder. Each cylinder has a pincers-like gripper including a controlled, pivotal jaw that has the form of a blade cooperating with a rigid jaw of the same cylinder. The pivotal jaw also operates as a controlled insertion blade that slides the slips of paper into the opened gripper of the other cylinder. The structural design of the device is simplified due to the fact that the pivotal blade-shaped jaw of each cylinder is provided with a second control that can be activated on command which deactivates the control of the pincers movement of the jaw and controls the jaw in such a way that it functions as the insertion blade.

    Abstract: The manufacture of bags requires stacks of tube sections to be separated as desired. The stacks must also be able to be turned 180.degree. and then fed to a separating device so that filling valves can be attached to varying end areas. A suitable device for feeding and for turning and feeding bundles includes a support bracket which is seated in bearings in a frame so as to rotate or pivot. The support bracket is provided with a rotary or pivot drive. Guideways, running crosswise relative to the support bracket, are provided for rods which can be moved back and forth by a drive. The rods support a beam parallel to the support bracket which is connected perpendicularly to a number of mutually parallel arms. The device includes a crosswise support bracket which is connected to the support bracket by joining pieces. Tines are supported approximately parallel to the arms.

    Abstract: An apparatus for manufacturing cross bottom sacks from laid-flat tubular sections consists of a frame having:- a table, means for holding the tubular section thereon in a processing station where the ends of the tubular section become opened out into a bottom square or rectangle, a suction gap arranged in the table in the zone of one of the ends of the tubular section, and suction means mounted in the frame above the suction gap and which is able to be raised and lowered for opening one end of the tubular section. Above the plane of the tubular section situated in the processing station, a slide can be extended and retracted over the table in the direction of the median line of the tubular section, the median line of the slide defining with the median line of the tubular section a plane perpendicular to the plane of the tubular section. The width of the slide is less than the interspacing of the hypotenuses of the two opened-out corner folds from each other.

    Abstract: A device for applying adhesives includes an adhesive chamber, the front side of which is closed by an adhesive roller with a vertical rotational axis which, in cooperation with one vertical side wall of the chamber, delimits a return gap for unremoved adhesive. A sealing roller is arranged parallel to the adhesive roller, forms a gap for the adhesive in cooperation with the adhesive application roller and is sealed relative to the other vertical side wall of the chamber by sealing elements. A glue application roller can be adjusted such that it adjoins the adhesive roller, receives preferably formatted glue sections from the adhesive roller and transfers the glue sections to the work pieces on which the glue needs to be applied. In order to prevent accumulations of the adhesive in front of the return gap which are discharged in uncontrolled fashion, a strip of flexible and/or elastic material is fastened to the side wall that delimits the return gap.

    Abstract: An apparatus for the transfer of flat workpieces from a first conveyor to a second conveyor consists of a first conveyor with two endless pulling members circulating parallel to each other over guide wheels or drive wheels which carry in pairs supporting elements with pins. The pins perforating and conveying the workpieces project above a table forming the conveyance path by virtue of the supporting elements and the pins having attachments which run in guides that are parallel to the table and which displace the attachments towards each other. The pulling members of the second conveyor carry in pairs supporting elements with pins which project above a table forming the conveyance path. In the transfer zone of the two conveyors, a plunger is arranged in the frame and mounted in guides. The plunger can be raised and lowered and impales the workpieces onto the pins of the second conveyor.

    Abstract: An apparatus for attaching leaves of a film of a plastic material to laid flat workpieces made of a film of plastic material, consists of a frame with a plate or a table over which the workpieces are continuously conveyed by means of a conveyor device. In a gap of the table plate, there is arranged a pair of conveyor rollers mounted in the frame, and having a roller gap substantially aligned with the table surface; the bottom roller of the pair is a counterpressure roller and the top roller is a suction cylinder. A conveyor cylinder cooperating with the suction cylinder successively delivers the leaves to the suction cylinder. A fishtail nozzle directed towards the roller gap blows heated air into the roller gap in a controlled manner so as to weld the leaf to the workpiece. The suction roller prevents the conveyor cylinder from being heated by the hot air in an inadmissible manner.

    Abstract: An arrangement for scoring continuously transported flat workpieces to be folded along scored lines is composed of scoring tools fastened to shafts that are parallel to each other. One part of the scoring tools features a groove and the other part features a ridge. The groove and the ridge follow a helical path over external cylinders defined by the tools and engage with each other in the contact region of their cover lines. In order to set lengths of the scored lines, a tool part is composed of a package of tightly compact, discoid segments that carry the scoring tools. At least one part of these segments can be retained on the shaft in a manner permitting rotation, and located at different angles, in order to be able to form two scored lines with only one pair of scoring rolls. A cylindrical saucer-type segment forming a second scoring tool is retained on each shaft.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for manufacturing a bag or sack bottom from tubular sections of paper or plastic web. Tubular sections of web material are fed into a feeding plane where they are subsequently sealed along selected seams by a sealing means. The sections are then inverted and fed in parallel to a scoring, gluing and folding section. The tubular section is then inverted again and passed to a pressing section. The tubular sections are stacked on top of each other in a partially overlapping manner as they are passed through the pressing section. After pressing, the tubular sections are passed to a separating station for again separating them before being passed to a packaging station. The invention concerns, moreover, an apparatus for operating the above mentioned method.

    Abstract: The invention concerns a multilayer sack or bag with side folds which consists of several tubular webs with side folds inserted one into the other, in which arrangement at least one open end is closed by a bottom. To form a bottom that is comparatively less thick, the outer tubular web with side folds has a projecting flap that extends over its width. At least one inner tubular web with side folds is inserted into this tubular web with side folds in such a way that it terminates at the distal edge of the flap. The projecting strip extending parallel to the flap of the at least one inner tubular web with side folds is folded over onto the outer side of the outer tubular web with side folds. The tubular webs with side folds, inserted one into the other, are folded together round the outer edge of this folded over strip and are fixed in this position.

    Abstract: A sack or bag has a front wall and a rear wall which are respectively connected laterally by a lateral fold, with a strip of the front wall together with the lateral folds on at least one of the two initially open ends being folded about a first folding line running transverse to the longitudinal axis. The corresponding strip of the rear wall remains in place and the folded-over strip of the front wall, as well as the strip left in place on the rear wall, are once again folded around the outer edge of the folded-over strip and attached in this position on the outside of the sack or bag. To make a sack or bag with a tight, leak-proof bottom portion, a corner tuck each is formed on both sides between the strips of the rear wall initially left in place and the side folds folded over together with the folded strip.

    Abstract: An apparatus for dividing a continuously conveyed stream of shingled workpieces, such as bags or sacks, into leading and trailing parts has two consecutive endless belt conveyors. The downstream second belt conveyor is driven, during a dividing operation, at a higher velocity than the first upstream conveyor in order to pull the shingled stream apart. After the stream has been divided into the leading and trailing parts the second conveyor is driven at the same velocity as the first conveyor. To provide separation of the stream into parts consisting of an exactly predetermined number of workpieces, an intermediate endless belt conveyor is provided, which extends parallel to the trailing portion of the second belt conveyor and during the dividing operation revolves at a lower velocity than the second belt conveyor. The intermediate conveyor is provided with cams for arresting the leading workpiece of the trailing part of the shingled stream, against an upper pressure belt.

    Abstract: Apparatus for severing sections from a web by transverse severing cuts at locations related to printed marks on the web. The apparatus includes a rotary cutter and pair of feed rollers, a differential transmission by which the feed rollers are operatively connected to a common drive motor for driving the rotary cutter and the feed rolls. A servomotor is provided for imparting a correcting rotation to the transmission. A mark detector for detecting the printed marks, a sensor for detecting the position of the rotary cutter, and a controller for controlling the servomotor in dependence on the deviation of the spacing of the printed marks from the predetermined web section length are also provided. The servomotor is a stepping motor which receives stepping pulses in a number which represents the difference between the theoretical length of each web section and the actual distance between the printed marks.

    Abstract: In a rotary applicator, suction rollers planetating about a central shaft are provided with suckers which are arranged in a row, project beyond the enveloping cylinders of the rollers and are placed on sucker carriers having suction air bores. The carriers communicate with suction air conduits and are rotatably but axially undisplaceably placed by means of sleeve-like tube members on the suction air conduits, the latter consisting of supporting tubes. The walls of the tubes and tube members are provided with bores which are in registry in the operative position of the suckers and of which the bores of the tube members communicate with the suction air bore of the sucker carrier. The suckers are rotatable to a position in which they are swung back within the enveloping cylinder and the walls of the tube members cover the bores of the supporting tube.
