    Abstract: This invention relates to an aqueous solution of water soluble urea-formaldehyde precondensate having a formaldehyde-to-urea (F/U) molar ratio of between about 1.20:1.0 and 1.70:1.0 and to a method for making the precondensate solution by reacting urea and formaldehyde in the presence of acid catalyst in aqueous solution having a pH between about 3.5 and 4.25; then, in neutral to slightly basic solution.
