  • Publication number: 20060227662
Abstract: The present invention is directed to generating moveout data for a gather with reduced or substantially eliminated stretch and with improved resolution of potentially overlapping events. In one embodiment, a zero offset trace is obtained and a phase information for the zero offset trace is substituted into phase information for each of the offset traces to perform a phase-based moveout. The zero offset trace may be obtained by a block move sum process and that process may be enhanced for improved resolution of overlapping events. The phase moveout data may be used for analysis of offset dependent relationships such as AVO. Additionally, the phase offset data may be stacked to obtain high signal to noise ratio data for further seismic analysis.

  • Publication number: 20060221767
Abstract: A technique is provided for processing seismic data to resolve overlapping events within individual traces of a gather of traces. Each of the traces is partitioned into a plurality of overlapping time intervals. The time component of the overlapping time intervals is adjusted relative to a common midpoint. The resulting time adjusted blocks define time-adjusted traces. A mathematical model is designed where the total energy of the time adjusted traces is equated to the total energy of the original traces. However, energy of individual time adjusted time intervals may be varied. Further, corresponding time intervals of different time-adjusted traces are constrained to be similar. The mathematical model may be resolved such that energy associated with separate events at a common temporal location in a non-adjusted trace (e.g., overlapping events within the trace) may be unevenly apportioned into first and second temporally separate locations in a time adjusted trace.

  • Patent number: 7092824
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for investigating an image set of geophysical data distributed over a first N-dimensional volume where N?2. A subvolume that encloses a known feature of interest within a target set of geophysical data distributed over a second N-dimensional volume is selected. A cross-correlation is calculated between the data distributed within the subvolume and corresponding data distributed in the first N-dimensional volume about multiple positions.
