  • Patent number: 6360138
Abstract: A fuel station site architecture includes at least one point-of-sale (POS) controller, at least one new generation fuel dispenser having advanced features, and a site forecourt controller coupled between the POS controller and the fuel dispenser. The site forecourt controller includes a device for interfacing the POS controller with the fuel dispenser by providing a protocol and electrical signal interface between a first protocol and electrical signal requirement of the POS controller and a second protocol and electrical signal requirement of the fuel dispenser, wherein the second protocol and electrical signal requirement include requirements for features which may not be supported by a prescribed POS controller.

  • Patent number: 4509128
Abstract: A solid-state demand register is described for determining the maximum electrical-power demand made on an electric utility by a load. The register, which employs a microprocessor, provides noncumulative, cumulative, and continuous-cumulative electrical-power demand measurement capabilities. The microprocessor, operating under a control program stored in a read-only memory, employs computing constants and generates computed results. A nonvolatile read/write memory, which stores the computing constants and computing results, is of the type that retains stored data even when deenergized. These constants and results can be visually displayed by an optoelectronic display. Error detection and correction of data are performed by the programmed microprocessor by means of an eight-bit Hamming code.

  • Patent number: 4355361
Abstract: The meter includes a kilowatthour register which is continuously engaged as well as at least one special register (kilowatthour or demand) which is selectively engageable. A calendar memory (ROM) stores data representative of schedule events and the times (called "calendar times") at which such events are to be effected. The events may include the engagement of a special register or controlling a load under customer programming. A Central Processor Unit (CPU) deriving timing information from the line frequency generates real time data and compares it with the stored calendar time for implementation of a schedule event. When the schedule event time arrives, the CPU implements the event (as by energizing an appropriate register selection circuit) and addresses the next schedule event in the calendar memory. The system includes a display for the real time data as well as means for setting the time data.
