  • Patent number: 4482379
Abstract: A cement composition is shown for use in preparing a pumpable slurry capable of setting and developing compressive strength at low temperatures. The cement composition includes a hydraulic cement, gypsum, calcium chloride and a setting time retarding agent. The cement composition also includes an additive blend comprising sodium metasilicate, lime and hydroxyethyl cellulose. The cement slurries of the invention are prepared by adding mixing water to the dry cement composition in an amount ranging from about 8 to about 13 gallons of water per 89 pounds of dry cement composition.

  • Patent number: 4381034
Abstract: A well cementing composition and method of cementing well bores are disclosed in which a slurry is first prepared utilizing cement, mixing water, and aluminum hydroxychloride in the range of 0.1 to 4.5 weight percent based on the dry weight of cement. The slurry thus prepared when pumped into place in the well bore has zero free water content thereby reducing the bridging or channeling in the cement column which is associated with free water formation.

  • Patent number: 4332619
Abstract: An expansive admixture is shown of the type used in cementing oil and gas well bores. Aluminum particles are coated with a gasoline and water insoluble wood resin. The resin coated aluminum particles in combination with activated charcoal and a fluid loss additive provide controlled expansion of the slurry over an extended period of time without detracting from other desirable properties of the slurry.

  • Patent number: 4050948
Abstract: A method of making lightweight cement slurry which involves dissolving sodium metasilicate and an activator in mix water, and thereafter mixing Portland cement therewith. The activator may be calcium chloride, calcium formate, calcium oxide, a water soluble calcium compound or a mixture thereof. The lightweight cement slurry so formed may be used for cementing well pipe in wells or for casting lightweight structural members, such as board, columns, and the like.
