  • Patent number: 4813644
Abstract: A folding support stand especially adapted to be collapsed into a compact unit for storage or transport. The support stand comprises one or more main support members which interfit in slideable telescopic relationship with one another. Positioned circumjacent the main support members is a brace support structure which comprises an upper tubular brace section having a cross-sectional configuration corresponding to that of the main support members, and a plurality of bracing struts hingedly affixed to the upper tubular brace section. A leg support structure is positioned circumjacent the brace support structure and comprises an upper tubular leg section having a cross-sectional configuration corresponding to that of the main support member and the brace support structure, and a plurality of leg members hingedly affixed to the upper tubular leg section.

  • Patent number: 4685374
Abstract: A page turning device is provided in which a first elongated arm is rotatably mounted for circular motion substantially parallel to but above the plane of the volume. A page lifting facility cooperates with the rotation of the first elongated arm to permit the first elongated arm to rotate between a lifted upper leaf and the remainder of the leaves of the volume. Continued rotation of the first elongated arm turns the upper leaf and positions the arm for turning of the next leaf. In this manner an unlimited number of leaves may be sequentially turned by a mechanically simple device which is immediately ready for use when a volume is positioned thereon.

  • Patent number: 4506582
Abstract: A shoulder support for use by performers on violin or viola which includes dual chambers secured in accordion-like fashion to provide increased lateral stability and/or increased cushioning capacity. Novel attachment members include slidable resilient elements which function to facilitate adjustment of attachment strap length while providing a surface-protecting support surface for the body of the instrument.

  • Patent number: 4449438
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improved mute which is used for stringed instruments. The invention comprises a holder and a first engaging surface for engaging a major surface of the bridge of a stringed instrument such as a violin. At least one second engaging surface is provided which is movably positioned relative to the first engaging surface such that it may abut either the other engaging surface or the opposite major surface of the bridge. Means are provided for mounting the engaging surfaces to the holder so that they are generally in a facing, movable and pivotable relationship to one another. Means are also provided for biasing the first engaging surface toward the second engaging surface with sufficient force to retain the mute on the bridge.

  • Patent number: 4316402
Abstract: An improved end pin for the violoncello and the string bass which comprises a receiving member having an outer nonslip support surface with an arcuate portion adapted to contact floor. The receiving member includes a cavity for receiving the existing end pin of a violoncello or string bass, in the case of retrofit applications, or a rod projecting out for replacement of existing pins. Means are provided for securely locking an existing end pin into the cavity of the receiving member. A yoke member is pivotally mounted to the receiving member for arcuate movement about the support surface and includes an opening therethrough for adjustably receiving a pin means. An adjustable pin means having a first pointed end extending from the yoke mounting to contact a surface for supporting said violoncello or string bass and a second end extending from the yoke to the outer support surface of the receiving member for adjustably securing said yoke relative to the receiving member.

  • Patent number: 4129962
Abstract: The invention disclosed herein is for a device adapted for self-determining, unpredictable variations in movement, which is preferably configured to include at least one figurine. The device comprises a base having at least one opening therethrough and a flexible member rotatably mounted to the base. Means for rotating said flexible member is mounted to the base and operably connected to said flexible member through said opening and may include manual or motorized drive elements. Positioned substantially coextensively within the flexible member is a deformable wire mounted to said means for rotation and optionally to a body element. A body member, such as a torso of a figurine, frictionally engages at least a portion of the flexible member and is rotatable therewith.
