  • Patent number: 5934792
Abstract: A flexible lighting system and method of making same is disclosed. The flexible lighting system includes a flexible translucent rod and an attachment flange. Preferably, the outer casing and the attachment flange are integrally formed to facilitate installation. The flexible translucent rod includes an outer casing and a lighting core. The lighting core is disposed within an axial aperture defined by the outer casing and contains a series of lighting elements. In the preferred embodiment, a texture, such as axial grooves, is applied to a surface of the flexible translucent rod. This texture may be applied to the outer surface of the lighting core or the inner surface of the outer casing to diffuse the light emitted by the discrete lighting elements, thereby providing an appearance similar to a solid bar of light.

  • Patent number: 5588908
Abstract: A fitting for securing a hose to a port formed in a support panel. The fitting includes a face plate that is fitted over the port. A set of spaced apart lock tabs extend inwardly from the face plate. A set of fingers also extend inwardly from the face plate. The fingers are located adjacent to and diametrically outwardly from interstitial gaps between the lock tabs. The hose is secured around the lock tabs and in the interstitial gaps. When the hose-and-fitting assembly is secured in a port, the fingers both lock the fitting in position and compression secure the hose to the fitting.

  • Patent number: 5297010
Abstract: A lighted grab handle particularly adapted for use at entry doorways on a large vehicle. The handle has a chamber in one end at an interior facing surface and which contains a recessed light socket. In use, light splashes on the vehicle wall on which the grab handle is mounted, making the handle easier to see in the dark.

  • Patent number: 5272603
Abstract: A light fixture, particularly adapted for use in vehicles, including land recreational vehicles and boats, comprises a base fixable on a mounting surface of a vehicle and including provision for mounting a lamp to shine forward from the base. A light transmitting lens mounts in front of the base for covering a lamp mounted on the base. The lens is convexly shaped and laterally overhangs the base with a peripheral portion adapted to lie close to the mounting surface at a height less than the height of the base. The lens has a central portion extending from the peripheral portion and overlapping the base for transmitting light from a lamp on the base. A lamp actuating switch is located on the base under the lens and upon depression of the lens by the user changes the state of the switch and the condition of illumination of the light fixture.

  • Patent number: 5099220
Abstract: A waterproof flush-mountable marine horn assembly includes a generally cup-shaped housing having a bottom wall and upstanding side wall means. The side wall means includes a top edge portion which defines a top rim of the housing, which top rim defines thereinside an opening in said housing. A flange extends from the top rim in a direction substantially opposite the housing opening and has a top surface facing away from the bottom wall and surrounding the opening. A horn is disposed within and secured to the housing. A water-proof membrane is stretched across the housing opening and secured to the top surface of the flange so as to completely cover the housing opening.

  • Patent number: 5026010
Abstract: A support for a table top or the like is provided by a leg having end portions over and to each of which is mounted a sleeve of a material characterized by a frusto-conical exterior surface and a high coefficient of friction. Each sleeved end of the leg is designed to seat in and tightly and frictionally engage one of the sockets to provide rigid support for the table top and each sleeve is provided with a releasable latch to prevent separation of the leg from the socket in the absence of intentional detachment of the latch by an operator.

  • Patent number: 4987845
Abstract: A ski tow fixture for removably securing a ski tow rope to a boat hull includes a generally elongate base unit supporting two bent portions having a generally common axis of bending and being generally sidewardly spaced along the common axis and generally sidewardly aligned. The bent portions are spaced from an end of the elongate base unit. Each bent portion extends from the base unit to a free end near the above-mentioned end of the base unit.

  • Patent number: 4976212
Abstract: A portlight for installing at an opening in a wall of a boat, comprising an interior frame surrounding an open viewing area. The interior frame comprises an axially extending spigot for outward insertion in an opening in a wall of a boat and an interior flange extending radially outward from the spigot to overlap the interior face of the wall of the boat. An exterior frame surrounds an open viewing area. Plural fasteners fixedly clamp, between the interior flange and exterior flange, the rim of the opening in the wall of the boat. A pair of widely-spaced holes through the interior flange receive screw means for biting into the adjacent wall of the boat and thereby temporarily fix the interior flange on the wall of the boat to allow a single installer to place the exterior flange and install the plural fastener means and thereby clamp the exterior flange and interior flange on the rim of the opening in the wall of the boat.

  • Patent number: 4925140
Abstract: A means for detachably connecting a load supporting member on a pedestal structure incorporates a separable joint between the pedestal leg and the brackets it engages at each end. The means utilizes a sleeve of synthetic resin having surface lubricity which sleeve is bonded to the pedestal leg and has a conical exterior surface which detachably seats into a complementary conical socket of a bracket for connecting the leg either to its support or to the load.

  • Patent number: 4738216
Abstract: A rope anchor for use in situations in which frequent attachment and removal of the rope is required. The anchor has a U-shaped bracket which is secured to a support such as the transom of a boat. The bracket has a central finger midway between and parallel to the bracket legs. The portion of the finger adjacent its attachment to the closed end of the bracket is in the same plane as the bracket legs but the inner end of the finger is bent out of this plane at a minor angle. The legs have stops which position the bracket such that the end of the finger is so spaced from the surface of the bracket support as to create a passage for the rope less than the normal diameter of the rope but large enough to permit the rope to be passed through it when the rope has been diametrically squeezed in one direction. This prevents inadvertent release of the rope when it is slack.
