The distal end is split with a first end beam and a second end beam at the distal end separated by a gap. The deflectable portion is spaced apart from the cage wall and is deflectable toward the cage wall. Each EMI spring has first and second side edges between the base and the distal end. The EMI springs are arranged side-by-side without gaps between adjacent EMI springs.

A seam cover is coupled to the pluggable body at the first side wall covering the seam between the upper shell and the lower shell on the first side wall. The seam cover is conductive and provides EMI shielding at the seam for a communication circuit board held in the pluggable body.

The bottom plate provides EMI shielding at the bottom of the receptacle housing and the rear plate provides EMI shielding at a back end of the receptacle housing. The hinge plate is hingedly coupled between the bottom plate and the rear plate to change relative positions of the bottom plate and the rear plate during assembly to the circuit board.

The gasket is within the passage of the cable exit region. An outer perimeter of the gasket in an uncompressed state has a non-elliptical cross section along a plane perpendicular to the cable axis. The gasket has an outer side engaging the inner surface of the cable exit region and an inner side configured to engage at least one cable received within the cable exit region. As the shells are mated, the gasket is sandwiched in a compressed state between the at least one cable and the cable exit region.

The inner EMI gasket engages the mating connector in the receiving space to electrically couple the mating connector to the connector housing.
