Abstract: A temperature-sensitive downrigger assembly is provided for seeking out then maintaining a pre-selected water temperature. The present invention incorporates a downrigger assembly having a temperature sensor provided approximately at the cannon ball end of the downrigger cable. A temperature selector is provided for the user to select a desired temperature. The depth of the cannon ball and its associated hook and lead is automatically and linearly adjusted to match the temperature selected by the operator. A jigging action is optionally provided.
