Patent number: 6516416Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for controlling access to computer resources using an untrusted network. The system preferably uses a hardware key connected to each subscriber client computer and adds software to the subscriber client computer and to the existing server computer. A clearinghouse is provided to store client and server identification data, including demographic data, including URL data, usage data and billing information. The clearinghouse authenticates the subscriber and server computers before an operating session occurs. For every new client session, a login mechanism requires the client computer to supply appropriate identification data, including a digital identification generated by the hardware key. The login parameters are verified by the clearinghouse and a session is then started. The system is adapted to protect preselected content from being printed or copied by a client using a web browser.Type: GrantFiled: June 11, 1997Date of Patent: February 4, 2003Assignee: Prism ResourcesInventors: Richard L. Patent number: 5198979Abstract: In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, methods are provided for Kirchhoff-migrating seismic data using a parallel computer. The methods of the present invention preferably use a multiprocessor machine that is interconnected to form a hypercube. The presently preferred method is to build up one or more migrated output traces in each processor (node) designated as a "migration" processor, as input traces are passed from migration node to migration node along a nearest-neighbor chain. When an output trace is completed, it is sent by a migration node to storage via an appropriate I/O processor and the migration node beings building a new output trace. There is essentially no limit to the length of seismic line which can be so migrated. Alternatively, the input traces may be held in the migration nodes and the output traces passed from node to node along a nearest-neighbor chain, or the input and output traces may be passed in opposite directions along the chain.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1989Date of Patent: March 30, 1993Assignee: Shell Oil CompanyInventors: William D.
