Patent number: 6106825Abstract: This invention provides recombinant entomopoxvirus as a novel vector and method of using such vector for delivery and expression of genes of biological significance to vertebrate cells, including human cells. This invention includes the use of an early entomopoxvirus or like gene promoter to drive the expression of an heterologous gene product in a vertebrate cell infected with the recombinant entomopoxvirus vector. We have discovered that, while the entomopoxvirus vector of this invention does not replicate in the vertebrate cell, it enters vertebrate cell cytoplasm and achieves expression of an heterologous gene inserted into the rEPV without causing cytopathic or cytotoxic effects. We further provide a method for expression of the heterologous gene under control of late, strong entomopoxvirus gene promoters, vertebrate gene or viral promoters, and for stable integration of the heterologous gene delivered by the rEPV into the vertebrate cell.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 1997Date of Patent: August 22, 2000Assignee: University of FloridaInventors: Richard W. Patent number: 6061617Abstract: An adaptable control system for the efficient use of different implement attachments for a work vehicle is disclosed. The work vehicle has an actuator for attachment and operation of different implements. The actuator is controlled by a control unit. The control unit has an input coupled to a user operated control device. The control unit is coupled to the actuator and activates the actuator in response to the user operated control device. An attachable implement such as a loader bucket is attached to the actuator. An implement data input such as a card slot is coupled to the processor. A portable data storage device, such as a data card, corresponding with the specific implement is inserted in the data input. The data storage device transmits instruction data relating to the specific implement to the implement data input. The controller operates the actuator in accordance to the data read from the data storage device.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 1997Date of Patent: May 9, 2000Assignee: Case CorporationInventors: Alan Daniel Berger, Richard L. Patent number: 5996342Abstract: An anti-stall and bias control for a hydrostatic drive train system is disclosed. The system is used on a hydrostatic drive vehicle with an engine coupled to a first and second hydraulic pump. The first and second hydraulic pumps are coupled to first and second drive motors which drive wheels of the vehicle. The power to the drive motors is controlled by a control unit which output signals proportional to the desired power output from the motors. An engine speed sensor determines the speed of the engine. The control circuit reads the engine speed and determines whether the engine is in a stall condition. If the engine is in a stall condition, the control circuit scales the control signals of the first and second motor to reduce power output. A bias control is also provided to allow the vehicle operator to select greater relative power to either the first or second motor. The bias control outputs a bias signal which is read by the control unit.Type: GrantFiled: June 23, 1998Date of Patent: December 7, 1999Assignee: Case CorporationInventors: Aftab A. Khan, Peter J. Patent number: 5435672Abstract: A hole saw having plug ejection feature. Using the arbor and arbor nut of the present invention, the arbor of an ordinary commercially available hole saw is replaced, the arbor nut of the present invention being threaded into the hole saw cup axial threaded inlet, to convert the ordinary hole saw into a plug ejecting hole saw. The arbor and arbor nut of the plug ejecting hole saw of the present invention function as the arbor of an ordinary hole saw when used with to drill the desired hole, the drill turning in a clockwise direction. When the drill rotation is reversed to a counter clockwise direction and the hole saw cup is held stationary, the arbor of the present invention screws through the also stationary arbor nut, thereby ejecting the plug from the hole saw cup.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1994Date of Patent: July 25, 1995Assignee: Vermont American CorporationInventors: Richard L. Patent number: 4727558Abstract: An embedded framing bit pattern in a serial bit stream is located using a sliding compare circuit to determine as each bit of the serial bit stream is received if a predetermined number of prior bits of the serial bit stream which are spaced apart by the pitch of the framing bit pattern match part of the framing bit pattern. A candidate register containing one plus the number of bits between each framing bit is initially preset so that all of the bits are at a first logic state and is sequentially addressed as each bit of the serial bit stream is received. If a match does not occur, then the bit addressed in the candidate register is set to a second logic state, but is not disturbed if a match occurs. The framing bit pattern has been located when the candidate register is addressing the only bit position which is still at the first logic state.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1987Date of Patent: February 23, 1988Assignee: Dallas Semiconductor CorporationInventor: Richard L.
