  • Patent number: 4934967
Abstract: An electrical socket for interconnecting a pin grid array to a printed circuit board includes an insulative housing having a plurality of apertures extending between upper and lower faces, the socket apertures have disposed therein, terminals for receiving the pins of the pin grid array in an electrically interconnected condition. A pin receiving portion of the terminal includes a circular band portion with resilient contact arms extending downwardly therefrom. The band portion includes a seam which allows for the expansion of the seam to relieve the stress in the band cuased by the deflection of the contact arms. The center of the circular band portion is also moveable to allow the pin receiving portion to realign itself to allow the reception of misaligned pins.

  • Patent number: 4657325
Abstract: An electrical connector for electrically interconnecting conductive pads on a printed circuit board and an electronic package located in an opening in the board and for biasing the electronic package against a cooling substructure on which it rests. More particularly, the connector includes a housing having downwardly extending walls for abutting and biasing the electronic package against the substructure and a plurality of contact elements having spring members which electrically engage respective conductive pads on the electronic package and surrounding circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4648669
Abstract: Removable retaining and guide means for retaining together a base member and slidable upper member of an electrical socket. The removable retaining and guide means include rigid pins received in hole-containing means of the base and upper members. The pins have upset portions which require a force so as to be passed through the holes and an intermediate portion on which the upper member can freely slide and which confines or guides the direction of travel.

  • Patent number: 4428633
Abstract: A dual-in-line socket assembly in which rows of electrical contacts are mounted in cavities extending along the insulating housing, each terminal having a receptacle portion opening to a first, plug receiving, face of the housing and tab portions projecting from a second, opposite housing face. First and second one-piece terminals each comprising a slotted component lead gripping portion and a tab portion are anchored in the housing with the tab portions extending closely adjacent tab portions of respective predetermined contacts to provide composite plugs whereby each terminal tab portions and contact tab portions can be plugged into a common aperture in a printed circuit board. A component may be located in a recess extending between the rows completely within the profile of the housing.

  • Patent number: 4235502
Abstract: A molded latching device is disclosed which, along with a similar latching device, is intended for assembly to a rearward corner of a connector housing thereby to provide latching means on the housing for latching the housing to an opening in a panel. The latching device comprises an L-shaped member having first and second arms. The arms have first and second internal surfaces which define a pocket dimensioned to receive a rearward corner of the connector housing. Attaching means are provided on the first arm for attaching the latching device to the housing and a flexible latch arm extends parallel to the second arm for engagement with the surface of the panel. The second arm has bearing surfaces at its free end for engagement with surface portions of the panel.

  • Patent number: 4227763
Abstract: Commoning connector for conductors comprises an insulating housing having a terminal-receiving face into which a plurality of terminal-receiving cavities extend. Electrical terminals in the cavities have wire-receiving portions adjacent to the terminal-receiving face which receive and establish electrical contact with a wire. Adjacent terminals are connected by a connecting strip or buss bar so that wires in adjacent terminals are commonly connected. The connector can be used in harness manufacturing processes which are also described.

  • Patent number: 4192568
Abstract: Multi-contact electric connector assembly comprises a connector plug and a connector receptacle. The connector receptacle has a hood extending forwardly from its mating face which surrounds the plug when the parts are mated. A latching means is provided on the receptacle in the form of flexible latch arms extending from the housing of the receptacle and projecting through an opening in the hood adjacent to the housing. The latch arms have a shoulder which engages complementary shoulders adjacent to the mating face of the connector plug. The plug is also provided with camming ramps adjacent to its mating face which cooperate with the latch arm on a terminal pin header when the connector plug is mated with the pin header. The camming ramps deflect the latch arm of the pin header away from the shoulders of the plug when the plug is mated with and disengaged from the pin header.

  • Patent number: 4168874
Abstract: Multi-contact electrical connector comprises an insulating housing having contact receiving cavities extending therethrough from a wire-receiving face to the mating face. The terminals in the cavities are of the type which receive a wire upon movement of the wire laterally of its axis and into slots in the terminals. The connector housing has a back cover which is assembled to the housing after the wires are connected to the terminals and the back cover has latch arms extending from its ends toward the mating face for mounting of the connector in an opening in a panel.
