  • Patent number: 8149849
Abstract: A gateway enables communications between a personal area network, such as a Zigbee network, and an Internet Protocol (IP) network. The gateway includes a first interface device for connecting to the personal area network, a second interface device for connecting to the IP network, and a gateway controller. In one embodiment, the gateway controller allocates ports on an IP interface to one or more clients in said personal area network, stores a routing table in memory for relating said clients in said personal area network with their corresponding ports, and transfers messages between said personal area network clients and said IP network based on entries in said routing table. In other embodiments, the gateway may function in conjunction with a gateway proxy.

  • Publication number: 20060076896
Abstract: The present invention relates to a safety alert and lighting system comprising a power source, an AC connection, a battery pack connected to the AC connection, a lighting system connected to the battery in the battery pack, one or more sensor devices and a relay. The relay will cause the lighting system to be activated and powered by the battery in certain selected situations. The lighting system is activated when power from the power source is interrupted or when a sensor device triggers the relay. The activated lighting system powered by the battery allows the inhabitants of a home to find candles or flashlights, in the circumstance of a power outage, or to exit the home safely if an unsafe environment, such as smoke, is detected by a sensor device.

  • Patent number: 6119022
Abstract: An incoming call alert system for use with a portable communication device is disclosed as including an accessory unit physically separate from the portable communication device for providing an alerting signal, a wireless link between the portable communication device and the accessory unit, and circuitry electrically connected to operating circuitry of the portable communication device for providing a message exclusively to the accessory unit over the wireless link when an incoming call is received by the portable communication device, the message causing the accessory unit to activate the alerting signal.

  • Patent number: 4003195
Abstract: A filamentary tow package is prepared in which the tow is in layers of substantially vertical folds and has adjacent layers impacted with one another. Sections of the tow are alternately twisted to give helix angles varying from greater than 45.degree. in an S direction to greater than 45.degree. in a Z direction. The helix angle of the tow is increased by impacting it into layers of tow previously laid down. Removal of tow from the package is improved.
