    Abstract: A chaff element for interfering with radar signals. The chaff element has a dielectric substrate and a pair of elongate electrically conductive elements, having a total length of approximately one-half wavelength of the radar signals or otherwise tuned to the radar signals, disposed on the dielectric substrate. A switch is arranged to electrically couple the pair of elongate elements together in response to a control signal generated by an oscillator circuit and a battery. The chaff element can be used in a method of providing a countermeasure against radar signals. A plurality of chaff elements can be deployed in an airspace above a radar unit emitting a radar signal and interfere with the radar signal by opening and closing the switches of the chaff elements while deployed in said airspace above the radar unit.

    Abstract: The disclosed technology provides a dynamic interconnection system which allows to couple a pair of optical beams carrying modulation information. In accordance with the disclosed technology, two optical beams emanate from transceivers at two different locations. Each beam may not see the other beam point of origin (non-line-of-sight link), but both beams can see a third platform that contains the system of the disclosed technology. Each beam incident on the interconnection system is directed into the reverse direction of the other, so that each transceiver will detect the beam which emanated from the other transceiver. The system dynamically compensates for propagation distortions preferably using closed-loop optical devices, while preserving the information encoded on each beam.

The device includes electrostatic plates disposed on opposing portions of the device to accumulate charge; conductors to conduct charge to the electrostatic plates from a bias supply; and a photoelectric element having a photoresistive element arranged to affect a quantity of charge reaching the electrostatic plates from the bias supply. The device is caused to actuate to one position when the photoresistive element is exposed to a first level of illumination, and to a another position when the photoresistive element is exposed to a different second level of illumination.

The indicating system includes a detector for sensing whether or not the rack holds articles and logic circuits responsive to the detector and to the operating state of the washer for providing an indication that the articles have been cleaned when a predetermined operating state is detected and for providing an indication that any articles in the washer are not clean after the detector senses that the articles in the rack were removed from the at least one rack.
