  • Patent number: 6504831
Abstract: A system for distributing radio frequency signals in a wireless communication network that provides an economical method of establishing and then later enhancing network coverage and capacity. The system centrally deploys Base Transceiving System (BTS) equipment and distributes their signals through a fiber network to individual cable microcell integrators (CMI) associated with the individual cell sectors of the system. The CMIs contain filtering equipment that permit them to be assigned in simulcast groups, depending upon the desired network capacity. For example, in an initial build out situation, a large number of CMIs operate at a common carrier frequency, modulation code, and/or code phase. As network demands increases, additional capacity is provided by reprogramming filters and/or signal processors in the CMIs.

  • Patent number: 6374124
Abstract: In a wireless telephone system that utilizes a plurality of remote transceivers to carry telephony signals between wireless telephones in a primary area and a central transceiver via a broadband distribution network, circuitry is disclosed to change the operational parameters of ones of the remote transceivers to reallocate them to handle wireless telephone traffic in an alternate area when there is an increased number of wireless telephone calls in the alternate area.

  • Patent number: 6301240
Abstract: Simplified centrally located equipment for use in a wireless telephone system that uses of an existing broadband distribution network to carry telephony signals between an existing telephone network and remote transceivers sites in defined cells or sectors is disclosed. The simplification is accomplished by reducing the number of frequency translation steps between elements of the centrally located equipment by using the same carrier frequency for signal handling within the elements of the centrally located equipment as is used to transmit telephony signals between elements.
