  • Publication number: 20080045242
Abstract: A system for providing traffic information to a plurality of mobile users connected to a network. The system comprises a plurality of traffic monitors, each comprising at least a traffic detector and a transmitter, the traffic detector generating a signal in response to vehicular traffic and the transmitter transmitting the signal. A receiver receives the signals from the traffic monitors. A computer system is connected to the receiver and is further connected to the network. The computer system in response to a request signal received from one of the users transmits in response thereto information representative of the signals transmitted by the traffic monitoring units. Alternative systems for gathering traffic information are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7324984
Abstract: A method and system is provided for detecting occurrences of semantic temporal events based on observations extracted from input data and event models. The input data is fed into the system from some data source. Based on specified event to be detected, multiple-layer models corresponding to the event are retrieved. The models are used to determine the types of temporal observations to be extracted from the input data. The extracted temporal observations are then used, in combination with the multiple-layer models of the event, to detect the occurrences of the event.

  • Publication number: 20070025614
Abstract: Automatic detection of one or more segment boundaries in a video. An analysis window identifies a selected series of video frames of the video to analyze for segment boundaries. A property value is determined for each of the video frames in the series of video frames. A maximum difference of the differences of property values between adjacent frames is compared to a threshold median value and a ratio of the maximum difference to a determined mean of the differences of property values between adjacent frames is compared to an adaptive threshold value. A segment boundary is defined as a function of the comparisons.

  • Publication number: 20040189804
Abstract: A system initiates an object tracking system, magnifies the image, selects an object of interest in an image, and designates the object as the target all while the object tracking system is activated. In this manner it is easier for the user of the object tracking system to select the target, especially if the target tends to be moving fast.

  • Publication number: 20040153288
Abstract: A method and system is provided for detecting occurrences of semantic temporal events based on observations extracted from input data and event models. The input data is fed into the system from some data source. Based on specified event to be detected, multiple-layer models corresponding to the event are retrieved. The models are used to determine the types of temporal observations to be extracted from the input data. The extracted temporal observations are then used, in combination with the multiple-layer models of the event, to detect the occurrences of the event.

  • Patent number: 6721454
Abstract: Semantically meaningful events are detected in video with a multi-level technique. Video sequences are visually analyzed at the first level of the technique to detect shot boundaries, to measure color and texture of the content, and to detect objects in the content. At the second level of the technique, objects are classified and the content in each shot is summarized. At the third level of the technique, an event inference module infers events on the basis of temporal and spatial phenomena disclosed in the shot summaries. The technique may be extended to additional domains by incorporating additional domain related processes at the upper levels of the technique which utilize data produced at the first level of the technique by processes which are domain independent.
