  • Patent number: 11692622
Abstract: A transmission includes a gearing arrangement configured to shift speed ratios by disengaging an off-going shift element and engaging an oncoming shift element and an electrohydraulic valve having an actuatable valve element configured to control an engagement state of the oncoming shift element. A controller is programmed to, during a shift of the transmission, in response to the off-going shift element disengaging and an expected ratio change not initiating, monotonically increase current to the valve to a maximum value to overcome frictional resistance on the valve element, and programmed to, in response to expiration of a timer and the ratio change still not initiating, send a repeating pattern of high and low current signals according to a duty cycle to overcome frictional resistance of the valve element.

  • Patent number: 11655815
Abstract: A semi-rigid stator is provided for a helical gear device. The stator includes a stack of rigid rings, a deformable layer, and a rigid housing. Each of the rigid rings has a central opening and an exterior surface. The rigid rings are aligned along a common centerline and rotated slightly relative to each other such that the stack of rigid rings forms a helically convoluted chamber. Each of the rigid rings is secured within the rigid stator housing by the deformable layer disposed between the exterior surface of each of the rigid rings and the rigid housing. The deformable layer bonds the rigid rings together as the ring stack and permits movement of the rigid rings relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 11486390
Abstract: A stator segment is provided for a helical gear device. The stator segment includes a stator tube and modular stator inserts. The stator tube has an inner profile with at least two internal sides that extend longitudinally along an interior of the stator tube. The modular stator inserts each have an outer profile that substantially matches and fits within the inner profile of the stator tube. The modular stator inserts also each have an interior helical profile that defines a central opening. The modular stator inserts are configured to be removably inserted longitudinally into the stator tube along the inner profile of the stator tube. The inner profile aligns the modular stator inserts to form a continuous helical chamber and prevents rotation of the modular stator inserts relative to the stator tube.

  • Patent number: 11402017
Abstract: A vehicle includes an engine and a transmission having an input shaft operably coupled to the engine, an output shaft operably coupled to wheels of the vehicle, a primary pump, and a secondary pump. The primary and secondary pumps are each configured to supply pressurized fluid to a valve body of the transmission. A controller is programmed to, in response to a loss of pressure of the primary pump and a speed of the output shaft exceeding a first threshold, shift the transmission to a neutral state, energize the secondary pump once the transmission is in the neutral state, and command the engine to idle speed.

In some examples, a process for making ethanol can include introducing a plurality of corn pieces into a mill. The process can also include milling the corn pieces in the mill to produce a ground corn product. Greater than 25 wt % of the ground corn product can have a particle size of greater than 105 ?m, as measured according to AOAC 965.22-1966. Greater than 80 wt % of the ground corn product can have a particle size of 425 ?m or less, as measured according to AOAC 965.22-1966. The process can also include processing the ground corn product to produce a fermentation mash that can include ethanol and separating at least a portion of the ethanol from the fermentation mash to produce a stillage.

  • Patent number: 10018271
Abstract: A transmission diagnostic system includes a pivotable member and an actuator. The actuator has a notch with a first side, a second side, and an opening between the two sides. The width of the opening is greater than a width of the pivotable member. The pivotable member is retained within the notch, and the actuator is configured to selectively pivot the pivotable member between an engaged position, corresponding to a PARK gear, and a disengaged position, corresponding to a gear other than PARK. The transmission diagnostic system also includes a biasing spring configured to exert a biasing torque on the pivotable member to bias the pivotable member toward the first side of the notch. The transmission diagnostic system further includes a controller configured to generate at least one diagnostic signal in response to the pivotable member not being in contact with the first side of the notch.
