  • Publication number: 20140138968
Abstract: A flexible food skewer system for providing versatile cooking upon a grill. The flexible food skewer system includes an elongated flexible member, a loop extending from an end and formed in part from the flexible member, and a piercing element extending from an opposite end of the flexible member are provided. In use, the user is able to manipulate the shape of the flexible member about other food items on the grill while allowing the loop and piercing implement to be exterior of the grill if desired. A second piercing implement may be provided instead of the loop. In further alternative embodiments of the invention, two or more flexible skewer systems may be intertwined to provide greater and reinforced food carrying capacity. Various alternative structures are provided to enable secured, releasable interlocking of the intertwined skewer systems.

  • Patent number: 8727836
Abstract: An electric sharpener having two pairs of interlocking abrasives for sharpening the edge of blades to different sharpening angles. An adjustment assembly simultaneously moves the wheels of each pair either toward or away from each other to adjust the sharpening angle produced by pair of abrasive wheels in a sharpening operation. The adjustment assembly is provided with a rotatable shaft having an external handle which engages a lower platen. The lower end of the shaft is threaded to move the platen in vertical direction to move translation bars affixed to the platen. The translation bars extend through elongated slots in respective pairs of adjustment arms coupled to each pair of abrasive wheels to rotate and vary the spacing between the abrasive wheels and adjust sharpening angles.

  • Publication number: 20140127984
Abstract: An abrasive sharpener having an integrated fire starter, light source and aerophone. The sharpener has a pair of sharpening slots, including a carbide slot having carbide abrasive elements and a ceramic slot having ceramic abrasive elements. An open cavity and an adjacent slot are formed in the housing and receive a pyrophoric rod assembly having a pyrophoric rod and attached handle. The pyrophoric rod assembly is selectively removable from the housing cavity and when removed serves as a fire starter through movement of the pyrophoric rod in the carbide slot to generate sparks.

  • Publication number: 20140120812
Abstract: An adjustable manual abrasive sharpener having a pair of sharpening slots formed in a frame with opposing abrasive arms being pivotally mounted in each of the sharpening slots. A rod is mounted on the frame for rotatable motion and for linear motion long its axis of rotation from a position at which the rod is locked against rotation to a depressed position whereby the rod may be rotated. The bottom end portion of the rod includes a pinion gear which engages a pair of gear racks which are mounted for movement laterally relative to the axis of rotation of the rod. The pair of gear racks respectively engage slots formed on the bottom of the abrasive arms in each sharpening slot. Rotation of the rod causes movement of the gear racks to adjust each pair of abrasive arms with respect to each other to vary the sharpening angle of the abrasive elements.

  • Publication number: 20140057541
Abstract: An abrasive sharpener having a housing supporting a pair of sharpening slots having abrasive elements mounted therein. The bottom of the housing is formed with an open V-shaped groove for supporting the housing on the edge of a table, bench and the like. The bottom further includes a pair of flat bottom surfaces separated by the V-shaped groove for supporting the housing on a flat surface. The V-shaped groove is opened ended and extends along an axis generally perpendicular to the direction that a knife edge and the like is pulled through either slot for sharpening.

  • Publication number: 20130341448
Abstract: A zester having an elongated body with a handle portion at one end and a cutting portion form by a plurality of raised cutting elements at the other end portion. A lower member is moveably mounted on said body beneath said plurality of cutting elements to form a collection chamber. A flexible squeegee is affixed to said lower member to scrape zest material from beneath the cutting elements as the lower member is extended outward from the housing after use of the zester.

  • Patent number: 8512105
Abstract: A pocket abrasive sharpener having a housing formed with a pair of upper slots and a lower open compartment. A pair of abrasive ceramic stones is mounted in one of the slots to form a V-shaped sharpening edge. Each ceramic stone has at least one flat face to abut an adjacent reversed stone to form the V-shaped sharpening slot. The stone has an abrasive cutting edge formed with a radius for sharpening serrated edges and having abrasives surfaces on both sides of the radius. A pair of abrasive blades having V-shaped carbide cutting edges is mounted in the other of the slots to also form a V-shaped sharpening slot. A tapered abrasive of is pivotally mounted on the housing and is moveable from the compartment to an extended position for sharpening knives and removing pins in certain military and civilian rifles.

  • Patent number: 8425281
Abstract: An electric abrasive sharpener for sharpening edges having pairs of interlocking abrasive wheels formed with opposite abrasive helical threads. Each end of the threads respectively has lead-in section and lead-out section having chamfer edge portion to eliminate kickback. The abrasive wheels of the sharpener is driven by a single phase AC motor connected to a motor drive that steps down the rotational speed of the output shaft of the motor to rotate the abrasive wheels with increased torque.
