  • Patent number: 4306881
Abstract: A liquid composition suitable as a high performance fuel and having improved rheological and stability properties comprising a liquid hydrocarbon having carbon particles dispersed therein of at least two disparate particle sizes, said two carbon particles being (1) a semi-reinforcing black having an average particle diameter of about 60 to about 100 mu and (2) a high abrasion furnace black having an average particle diameter of about 20 to about 50 mu.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 23, 1981
Date of Patent: December 22, 1981
    Assignee: Suntech, Inc.

  • Patent number: 4305729
Abstract: A liquid composition suitable as a high performance fuel and having improved rheological and stability properties comprising a liquid hydrocarbon having carbon particles dispersed therein of at least two disparate particle sizes, one of said carbon particles having an average particle diameter of from about 300 to about 350 mu and the other particle having an average particle diameter of about 20 to about 50 mu, the carbon particles of the smaller size black being present in an amount between about 20 and about 25 weight percent of the total black percent.

  • Patent number: 4192731
Abstract: Coal and other solid fossil fuels are subjected to supercritical gaseous extraction by heating a mixture of particulate coal and a solvent mixture of tetralin and xylene at supercritical temperature whereby high extractive yield is obtained and the residual solid material is easily separated from the liquid product.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 23, 1978
Date of Patent: March 11, 1980
    Assignee: Suntech, Inc.
Inventors: Richard S. Stearns, Elmer J. Hollstein
  • Patent number: 4113794
Abstract: Novel copolymer formed by melt blending a melt spinnable polyamide, such as nylon-6, and a block of random poly(dioxa-amide), such as a copolymer prepared from the mixture of caprolactam and the salt of adipic acid and 4,7-dioxadecamethylene diamine, is disclosed. The resulting copolymer, N-30203-6/6//6, has utility as a fiber. The fiber, for example, resulting from melt blending of nylon-6 and the aforementioned random poly(dioxa-amide) has moisture absorption characteristics similar to that of cotton. Furthermore, the resulting fiber still maintains the other desirable properties of the major constituent, for example, nylon-6.

  • Patent number: 4107243
Abstract: Process is disclosed for preparing solid thermoplastic polymer fibrilla or fibril having a length which makes either useful for mixing with cellulosic pulp. Process involves forming a two phase mixture of polymer and solvent wherein one phase is a polymer-rich phase and the other is a solvent-rich phase. Said mixture is discharged through a suitable nozzle in laminar flow.
