  • Publication number: 20230348826
Abstract: Methods of preparing low alcohol malt beverages that include herbal compositions and that do not involve removal of alcohol to achieve an alcohol level of 2.5% or less are provided. In various implementations, methods of preparing low alcohol beverages can utilize biological approaches to limit alcohol levels in malt beverages containing herbal compositions. Herbal compositions can be selected to provide desired features to the low alcohol malt beverages.

  • Publication number: 20230302408
Abstract: Various systems and processes are directed to filtering organic compounds using nanoporous membranes and osmosis. In various implementations, the nanoporous membrane can be trained on one or more organic compounds such that the nanoporous membrane preferentially allows the one or more organic compounds to permeate the nanoporous membrane to the exclusion of other compounds. In some implementations, the nanoporous membrane is trained on ethanol such that the nanoporous membrane preferentially allows ethanol to permeate the nanoporous membrane to the exclusion of other compounds, such as water or other compounds or mixtures. In some implementations, the selective ethanol permeation of the nanoporous membrane may occur even where the other compounds have smaller molecules than ethanol.

  • Patent number: 7904277
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and electronic devices 102 including a display 104 that is configured to display indicia 114, 116, 118 persistently during a shipping process. The disclosed methods and electronic devices may include an indicia control 110 for dynamically determining the indicia for persistent display based on at least one of a self-diagnostic software tool 112, a selection from a table 122 of predetermined information, or downloaded data 124. In one embodiment, by self-diagnosing a condition in the device 102, repair or other similar indicia may be determined dynamically based on the self-diagnosis, and displayed persistently on the display 104 during a shipping process. In another embodiment, the persistent labeling indicia may include destination information 116 for routing based on the self-diagnosis. In yet another embodiment, product recycling indicia may be persistently displayed when the age of the device is determined in accordance with a self-diagnostic software tool 112.

  • Publication number: 20060123359
Abstract: A portable electronic device, for example, a handheld communication device, including a display (110), a user input interface (150) and a processor (120) coupled to the display and to the user input interface. The processor controls the display and navigation of items arranged in bounded areas of an array in response to inputs at the user interface, wherein each item corresponds to content and/or a feature of the portable electronic device.

  • Publication number: 20050210514
Abstract: A wireless communication device (104) comprising a transceiver (202), a memory portion (206) and a display (208). The transceiver (202) receives (704, 806) a data stream of media content from a remote device (102) on a periodic basis. The memory portion (206) stores (704, 806) the data stream in a content cache (306). The data stream is retrieved from the content cache (306) a portion at a time, and the display (208) displays (706, 808) the portion. The display (208) has a passive mode and an actuated mode. In the passive mode, dynamic media content is continually provided at the display (208) throughout operation. In the actuated mode, detailed content and/or functionality associated with the dynamic media content is provided. The touch screen (210) changes the display from the passive mode to the actuated mode upon activation.

  • Publication number: 20050188406
Abstract: A wireless communication device (104) for providing channel information is described. The device comprises a housing having a first display (1008) and a second display (1006), a memory (206) and a processor (204). The housing has a first position (1002) exposing the first and second displays and a second position (1004) covering the first display and exposing the second display. The memory (206) stores a plurality of applications and/or media content that may be shown by the second display (1006). The processor (204) changes operation of the second display (1006) from one application to another and/or the media content shown by the second display from one media content to another. Also, applications and/or content of the second display (1006) may be managed by a control panel application of the first display (1008).

  • Publication number: 20050186940
Abstract: A wireless communication system and method for managing content of a remote device (104) is described. A transceiver (202) receives usage information from the remote device (104) and communicates event content to the remote device at a reporting time. The usage information indicates activity of the remote device (104) during a predetermined time period. The processor (204) determines the reporting time based on the usage activity of the remote device (104) during the predetermined time period. For another embodiment, the processor (204) determines a time period of inactivity based on the usage activity of the remote device (104) during the predetermined time period, and minimizes communication of the event content to the remote device during one or more future time periods corresponding to the time period of inactivity.
