  • Patent number: 10474824
Abstract: Unauthorized code may be stored as data in a data volume of a firmware volume. To prevent or block execution of the unauthorized code, the firmware file system (FFS) file that includes the unauthorized code may be tagged, marked or deleted according to a system bios policy. These corrupted FFS files are thus blocked from execution during initialization or a boot process of a basic input/output system (BIOS) firmware as they are not published or enumerated to an execution list of the BIOS firmware.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 30, 2016
Date of Patent: November 12, 2019
    Assignee: Dell Products L.P.
Inventors: Balasingh Samuel, Walter Phillips, Richard Tonry

  • Patent number: 9189658
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting states are disclosed. An information handling system may include a processor and a plurality of information handling resources communicatively coupled to the processor via the common control line. The processor may be configured to produce a first signal on a common control line. Each of the plurality of information handling resources may include a tag having a signal threshold, the tag configured to communicate a second signal via the common control line indicating the presence of the particular information handling resource in response to the first signal exceeding the signal threshold of the tag.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 17, 2015
    Assignee: Dell Products L.P.

  • Patent number: 7804672
Abstract: A switched power rail monitor compares voltages provided by a switched power rail and a power source to detect a predetermined differential indicative of a fault at the switched power rail. A switched power rail fault is communicated to a power manager to take corrective action, such as cutting off power to information handling system components. In one embodiment, a pair of bipolar junction transistors monitor the voltage differential to send an enable signal if the differential is within limits and a disable signal if the differential exceeds limits.

  • Publication number: 20060220465
Abstract: An information handling system AC-to-DC adapter provides a low DC power output on initial application of an AC power input. The low DC power output supports communication between the adapter and the information handling system of adapter identification information. The information handling system confirms a proper connection with the adapter and sends an authorization to the adapter to output a high DC power output. The adapter monitors the connection with the information handling system to disable the high DC power output if not needed, such as if the information handling system is disconnected from the adapter or reaches a fully charged battery state.
