  • Publication number: 20140180658
Abstract: Performing diagnostic of hydrocarbon production in a field includes generating a thermal-hydraulic production system model of a wellsite and a surface facility in the field, and simulating, using the thermal-hydraulic production system model, and based on multiple root causes, a hydrocarbon production problem to generate a feature vectors corresponding to the root causes. Each of feature vectors includes parameter values corresponding to physical parameters associated with the hydrocarbon production. Performing diagnostic further includes configuring, using the feature vectors, a classifier of the hydrocarbon production problem, detecting the hydrocarbon production problem in the field, analyzing, using the classifier, and in response to detecting the hydrocarbon production problem, surveillance data from the wellsite and the surface facility to identify a root cause, and presenting the root cause to a user.

  • Patent number: 8401832
Abstract: A method includes initiating a first reservoir simulation on a first simulator for a first set of physical parameters of a first reservoir. The first reservoir simulator uses a first set of components for a compositional reservoir model. A second reservoir simulation is initiated on a second simulator. A network simulation is initiated on a network simulator to model a network for coupling the first reservoir and the second reservoir to a surface facility. The network simulator uses a second set of components for a compositional network model. The method further includes translating each of a first hydrocarbon fluid stream of the first reservoir simulator and a second hydrocarbon fluid stream of the second reservoir simulator to a common fluid model. Further, network balancing is initiated among the simulators at a corresponding point in each controller time step.

  • Publication number: 20070112547
Abstract: Integrated surface-subsurface modeling has been shown to have a critical impact on field development and optimization. Integrated models are often necessary to analyze properly the pressure interaction between a reservoir and a constrained surface facility network, or to predict the behavior of several fields, which may have different fluid compositions, sharing a common surface facility. The latter is gaining a tremendous significance in recent deepwater field development. These applications require an integrated solution with the following capabilities: * to balance a surface network model with a reservoir simulation model in a robust and efficient manner. * To couple multiple reservoir models, production and injection networks, synchronising their advancement through time. * To allow the reservoir and surface network models to use their own independent fluid descriptions (black oil or compositional descriptions with differing sets of pseudo-components).
