  • Publication number: 20100319592
Abstract: A method and system for controlling a pulverized coal fired boiler wherein the flow of a coal/air mixture flowing to each burner is monitored and transmitted to a distributed control system. The distributed control system also monitors and controls the position of dampers in a splitter that feeds the coal/air mixture to the burners. The dampers are controlled in a closed loop fashion to achieve a optimal boiler performance.

  • Patent number: 7631086
Abstract: A system and method of enabling network-based communication between a requesting device and a disconnected remote device over a data network is provided. The method begins by transmitting a network address request message from the requesting device to an address resolution server. The network address request message is received at the address resolution server, and subsequently a validation message is transmitted to the disconnected remote device to determine if the disconnected remote device is disconnected from the data network. If no response is received to the validation message, then an activation signal is generated and transmitting to the disconnected remote device. In response to the activation signal, the remote device obtains a network address and connects to the data network.

  • Publication number: 20070035398
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method of monitoring assets of an enterprise using a stand-alone software system and a process automation software system. The stand-alone software system is operable to generate a web page about a condition of the asset and to transmit data items for the condition in a single data string. The data items include a status of the condition and a URL of the web page. The process automation software system includes a human system interface (HSI) and a generic asset monitor having a changeable condition table. The generic asset monitor may be modified to create a custom asset monitor specific to the asset. The custom asset monitor is operable to monitor the status of the condition and the HSI is operable to display the data items and the web page from the stand-alone software system.

  • Publication number: 20060020420
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for monitoring the performance of a heat exchanger. In accordance with the system and method, baseline values of a performance factor (E) for baseline sets of heat exchanger operating values are calculated and stored. A current value of E is calculated for a current set of the operating values and is compared to a retrieved baseline value of E for a baseline set of the operating values that at least substantially matches the current set of the operating values. E provides a measure of the performance of the heat exchanger and is calculated using differential temperatures across the heat exchanger and without using any information concerning the physical construction of the heat exchanger.

  • Publication number: 20020194348
Abstract: A system and method for remotely triggering a predetermined program at a host computer system using a telephone ring signal is disclosed. The host computer system includes a ring detection and triggering circuit, a control monitor program, and at least one activation script, wherein the activation script could be a series of commands which create a connection between the host system and the Internet. A ring signal on a phone line connected to the host system is detected by the ring detection circuitry, and subsequently a trigger signal is generated by a trigger circuit which is detected by the control monitor program running on the host system. The control monitor program responds to the trigger signal and executes the activation script, thereby causing a connection to be established between the host system and the Internet. Other features, such as multiple activation scripts, remote user authentication, and feedback validation tones are also disclosed.
