  • Publication number: 20080105081
Abstract: A linear displacement device has a body; a plurality of masses mechanically coupled to the body for reciprocating movement in a common direction with respect to the body; and a mechanism for driving the masses so that they oscillate periodically with different frequencies of oscillation such that; the impulse applied to the body by the oscillating masses, in one direction is in excess of the minimum impulse required to move the body in the one direction, by a greater amount. than the reaction impulse applied to the body in the opposite direction is in excess of the impulse required to move the body in the opposite direction, so that the body will move in the one direction.

  • Patent number: 6774911
Abstract: The invention relates to the provision of graphical representations of an organization, said displays generated on a display screen and representing the organization or portions thereof in terms of a graphical; model and a hierarchical structure. The invention allows synchronization of the two types of display, with both being regenerated to mirror and indicate changes made to the same in response to an alteration, typically following a user selection, made to the other of the displays.

Date of Patent: August 10, 2004
    Assignee: Mood International Limited

  • Publication number: 20020178433
Abstract: The invention relates to the generation of a graphical or visual display to represent selected and/or all identified capabilities of a particular organization. The method of the invention involves identifying and representing the capabilities visually, in conjunction with resources required to be provided to and provided by the capabilities. Linkages between the capabilities are also represented visually and selection of the same or capabilities allows the generation and display of relevant information. Navigation through and selection of the visual display features is rendered possible by a navigation mechanism which includes a display comprising a number of user selectable icons. The displays are typically generated via software on a display area.

  • Patent number: 5005143
Abstract: A system and method for selecting from a set of output actions for combinatory situations such as medical diagnosis defined by a pluality of input parameters. A decision making structure is established by an expert having a plurality of linked nodes. Random values of the input parameters are generated, which includes biasing the random values by a function of a preceding response. The steps are repeated until a sufficient number of responses having a predetermined statistical significance is achieved for each node. After this set up and teaching, the accuracy of the systems's predictions may be verified against actual responses by the expert. The decision making structure may be interrogated by entering a situation to be analyzed. The path the expert would take through the decision making structure is predicted by determining the probability of the expert's response at each mode in the structure to arrive at an output action.
