Publication number: 20240109783Abstract: A process and apparatus for reducing wastewater generated during production of ammonia that can have different levels of production (e.g. ammonia production can vary from 10% to 100% production capacity, etc.) can be configured to minimize or eliminate wastewater from ammonia production. Embodiments can be adapted so that wastewater is stored in a vessel and providable to a scrubber used for processing an ammonia vapor containing stream so that ammonia within that stream can be recovered and mixed with other liquid ammonia product for subsequent storage or use. Embodiments can be implemented so the scrubber stream that may utilize a liquid to perform the scrubbing is recyclable in a way that minimizes or even eliminates formation of a wastewater stream, which can significantly improve process efficiency and provide improved environmental operation as compared to conventional approaches.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2022Publication date: April 4, 2024Applicant: Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.Inventors: KEVIN RICHARD MADTHA, GRAEME RICHARD WILSON

Patent number: 11786121Abstract: Systems and methods for use in measuring sympathetic nervous system activity or blood vessel autoregulation corrected for sympathetic activity. The choroid in the human eye is imaged and, using the resulting image, the vascular perfusion density (VPD) in the choroid is measured. VPD provides a measurement that is directly related to sympathetic nervous system activity. The effect of stimuli on sympathetic nervous system activity can be measured by comparing pre-stimuli VPD measurements with post-stimuli measurements. Quantifying VPD can be performed by determining pixel density within specific areas of the choroid image. Altered sympathetic nervous system activity can be detected in a subject by comparing that subject's VPD measurements to baseline VPD measurements from healthy individuals. Blood vessel autoregulation can be measured by imaging changes in other blood vessels in the eye and correcting with choroid VPD measurements of sympathetic activity.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2018Date of Patent: October 17, 2023Inventors: Richard Wilson, Nicholas Jendzjowsky, Robert Herman, Willis Tsai, Fiona Costello, Craig Steinback
