Abstract: As assembly structured to protect external surface areas of an automobile or like vehicle including a housing of portable, lightweight construction removably mounted within the interior of the vehicle. An elongated flexible protective member is movably connected to the housing and selectively positionable between an outwardly extended operative position, wherein the protective member overlies exterior surfaces of the vehicle, and a retracted position, wherein at least a majority of the length of the protective member is stored within the interior of the housing. The protective member is preferably of sufficient length to extend in overlying relation to a midline surface area and in substantially surrounding relation to an outer periphery of the vehicle.
