Abstract: A system is provided for accessing data in a database by automatically configuring database tables from within an application program. The system comprises a database, an application program and a table definition module. The database comprises one or more tables, each having one or more data columns. The application program comprises means for requesting access to a database table and means for executing an attempt to access the database table. The table definition module comprises means for intercepting an error message if the attempt to access the database table fails and means for attempting to correct a database table defect in response to the error message. The application program further comprises means for re-executing the attempt to access the database table following correction of the database table defect. Defects corrected by the table definition module may include an absent column, an absent table, and an undefined table.

Abstract: Method and system aspects for controlling a dynamic display of static chart data are described. The aspects include obtaining data from first and second static charts, displaying data from the first static chart as a beginning chart, and adjusting the displayed data from the first static chart to visually indicate a change in the data required by the data from the second static chart as an ending chart in a direction and with a delay based on a selected display control event. Display control events include play forward, play reverse, fast forward, fast reverse, slow forward, slow reverse, and stop.

Abstract: Method and system aspects for utilizing thresholds during the display of dynamically displayed charts are described. The aspects include obtaining data from first and second static charts and setting a value criteria. Data from the first static chart is displayed as a beginning chart, and the displayed data is adjusted from the first static chart to visually indicate a change in the data required by the data from the second static chart as an ending chart. The aspects further include comparing the value criteria to the displayed data, and halting the displaying of the data when the value criteria has been met.

Abstract: Method and system aspects for more intuitively presenting a relationship for static chart data from at least two static charts are described. In a method aspect and system for providing same, the method includes obtaining data from first and second static charts. The data from the first static chart is displayed as a beginning chart. The displayed data from the first static chart is adjusted to visually indicate a change in the data required by the data from the second static chart as an ending chart.

Abstract: A charting metalanguage for uniquely defining a chart to be generated by a computer. The charting metalanguage comprises a plurality of keywords and subkeywords that define the components of the chart. A keyword is preceded by an indicator such as a slash symbol and describes a major characteristic of the chart such as the type of chart, the type of font to be used or the title of the chart. An optional subkeyword follows the keyword. A text and/or data string may follow the subkeyword and/or be positioned between the keyword and the subkeyword.
