    Abstract: A lightweight wallboard having a density in the range of 10 pcf to 30 pcf and comprised of a faced layer of expanded siliceous inorganic particles, such as expanded perlite, bonded together by inorganic binder, such as sodium silicate. The board is made by depositing a mixture of particles, binder and water onto a moving web of facing material, contacting the mixture with an upper moving web of facing material, compacting the mixture to the desired shape and density and drying the resulting board. Fire resistant and water repellent versions of the formula are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A lightweight asphalt roofing product wherein the asphalt-based coating has a specific gravity less than 1.0. A lightweight filler is used which has an effective specific gravity in the range of 0.10-0.50 and is present in the coating in the range of 3%-25% by weight of the filled coating. In a preferred embodiment, the filler particles have hollow, gas filled inclusions, and comprise expanded perlite particles or expanded permicite particles.

    Abstract: A whitewater dispersant system containing a cationic surfactant and a cationic polyacrylamide. The viscosity modifier of the present invention may include amounts varying from 0 to 90% of a nonionic cellulosic viscosity modifier. The resulting whitewater is particularly effective in dispersing glass fibers in a slurry which is used to form a glass mat. The whitewater preferably has a viscosity lying in the range of from 2 to 12 cps and most preferably about 8 cps.
