    Abstract: A fingerprint imaging system includes a light source, an optical platen having a light receiving face positioned such that the light from the source impinges thereon, and a finger receiving face positioned such that light from the light source through the light receiving face impinges on the finger receiving face. A light detector is positioned to receive light from the light source reflected from the finger receiving face. The light receiving surface of the platen is configured to avoid reflection of external light passing through the finger receiving face and impinging on the light receiving face.
