  • Patent number: 5056330
Abstract: A cooling system including a refrigerant compressor for use in a vehicle for cooling a refrigerated compartment includes a hermetic type compressor containing a DC brushless motor as a compressor driver. An electric generator is actuated by the engine of the vehicle to generate AC electric power which is, in turn, rectified by a rectifier to produce DC electric power for driving the DC brushless motor. A switch is provided to switch over from the electric generator to a commercial AC electric power source. The commercial AC electric power is rectified by the rectifier to supply DC electric power. Thus, the compressor can be driven by a commercial AC electric power source when the engine is stopped. In order to achieve accurate temperature control in the refrigerated compartment when the engine is running, the amount of AC electric power generated by the electric generator is controlled.

  • Patent number: 4991405
Abstract: An automotive air conditioning system according to the present invention includes a heat pump circuit comprising a first heat exchanger and a second heat exchanger. The first heat exchanger provides cooled or heated air to a passenger compartment. The second heat exchanger is provided with an outside air inlet path that conducts outside air to the second heat exchanger. Passenger compartment air is also conducted to the second heat exchanger by an air conducting path. The flow of air from the passenger compartment and the outside is selectively conducted to the second heat exchanger by a damper that responds to air flow demand.

  • Patent number: 4934158
Abstract: In a cooling system including a refrigerant compressor for use in a vehicle for refrigerating a refrigerant compartment, the refrigerant compressor is a hermetic type compressor containing a DC electric motor as a compressor driver. An electric generator is actuated by an engine of the vehicle to generate an AC voltage which is, in turn, rectified by a rectifier to produce a DC power for driving the DC electric motor. A switch is provided to switch over from the electric generator to a commercial AC power source so that the commercial AC power is rectified by the rectifier to supply the DC power to thereby enable to drive the compressor by use of the commercial AC power source during a time period when the engine is stopped. In order to cool a passenger compartment of the vehicle, another compressor is provided to be driven by the engine.

  • Patent number: 4831837
Abstract: A container for use in transporting refrigerated and/or frozen merchandise by transporting vehicle or the like together with other normal parcels and packages comprising an insulated container in which the refrigerated/frozen merchandise is stored and which is designed to be loaded onto and to be unloaded from the transporting vehicle or the like, and two refrigerating units for refrigerating the interior space thereof while at a warehouse or other facility and while carried on the transporting vehicle or the like. One of the refrigerating units is assembled on the transporting vehicle or the like and connectable with the container for the circulation of air between the container and the refrigerating unit. The other refrigerating unit is disposed on the container and operated by commercial electric power.

  • Patent number: 4637220
Abstract: A refrigeration system having two evaporators to function as both an air conditioner and refrigerator of a vehicle is disclosed. The two evaporators are connected parallel with one another, with one of the two evaporators being disposed in the duct portion of the air conditioner and other being disposed in the refrigerator. An electrical expansion valve is serially connected with the inlet side of the air conditioner evaporator for controlling the flow of refrigerant to it. A shutoff valve for controlling the opening and closing of the line, and an expansion device, are serially connected ahead of the inlet side of the refrigerator evaporator. When the shutoff valve is closed, the operation of the electrical expansion valve is controlled by the change in temperature of refrigerant through the air conditioner evaporator; and when the shutoff valve is open, the operation of the expansion valve is controlled by the temperature of refrigerant in the refrigerator evaporator.

  • Patent number: 4498311
Abstract: A control device is disclosed for controlling the operation of a variable displacement compressor in an air conditioning or refrigerating system. The compressor includes a variable displacement device for changing the cooling capacity of the compressor and a magnetic clutch which operates the compressor in response to an external drive mechanism. The control device controls the operation of the magnetic clutch in response to a comparison of the temperature of the cool air generated by the evaporator of the air conditioning system and a first predetermined temperature. When the temperature is above the first predetermined temperature, the compressor is operated to lower the temperature. The control device also controls the operation of the variable displacement device in the compressor. The control device operates to increase the cooling capacity of the compressor in response to a comparison of the temperature of the cool air with a second predetermined temperature.

  • Patent number: 4485635
Abstract: A control device is disclosed for controlling the operation of a compressor in an air conditioning or refrigerating system. The compressor includes a variable displacement device which changes the capacity of the compressor and a magnetic clutch which operates the compressor in response to an external drive mechanism. The control device controls the operation of both the variable displacement device and the magnetic clutch in response to the temperature of the cool air generated at the evaporation of the air conditioning or refrigerating system. Two temperature detectors having different thermal response characteristics detect the temperature of the cool air. The difference between the temperatures detected by these sensors is used by the control device to control the operation of the variable displacement device.
