  • Patent number: 5481353
Abstract: An apparatus for producing variably compiled presentation and supporting page sets, which may include multimedia, transparency, divider, master set and/or handout output sets created, modified, viewed and/or printed according to an array of color, editing and image modification features. Dividers may be automatically produced and interleaved between transparencies, so as to include modified images, additional information or other material not found on the set of transparencies. A master set and/or handout sets may also be produced and variably complied and sorted, and may include modified images, additional information or sheets or other material not found on the set of transparencies or the set of dividers.

  • Patent number: 5258818
Abstract: A method of recovery from a machine paper jam with a plurality of sheets in a duplex tray of a machine operating in a pre-collation mode to provide multiple copy sets, including the steps of recycling the plurality of pre-collated or pre-ordered serial sheets in the duplex tray out of and back into the duplex tray to reorient the images on the sheets, reimaging the sheets that have exited the duplex tray but are still in process, stacking the reimaged sheets into the top of the duplex tray and recycling a second time the plurality of sheets originally in the duplex tray at time of jam into the duplex tray to reorient the images on the sheets for a second time.

  • Patent number: 5202738
Abstract: A copy system includes a duplicator and a sorter which has a plurality of multi-bin towers.Duplicator and sorter controls are provided for controlling the duplicator and tower transport devices and bin deflectors in the collated simplex mode. The size of each segment of an entered job is computed by the duplicator control as a function of available sorting means resources. The duplicator control detects a single tower loading or multiple tower loading selection for limitless mode operation, and shuts down the duplicator and sorter after the completion of each job segment in the multiple tower loading mode, or after the completion of each job segment in the single tower loading mode if an empty tower is unavailable.

  • Patent number: 5182607
Abstract: A copy system has a duplicator with a limited capacity duplex tray and a high-volume sorter that has 10 towers with 60 bins in each tower. Transport and directing mechanisms are operated to distribute copies to the various bins. A microprocessor control system operates the duplicator and the sorter. The control determines how many bins are to receive each collated set in the collated duplex mode of operation. The towers are operated in a single tower loading mode if the number of bins for each collated set is one. On the other hand, the towers are operated in a multiple tower loading mode if the number of sets for each collated set is greater than one.

  • Patent number: 5036361
Abstract: A method of providing a prominent time of completion display and percentage of completion display for a given job requirement and providing an indication of the amount of paper stock required from several sources of paper stock in a printing system including the steps of responding to entered job requirements to calculate a total time of completion for the given job and the paper stock required from each of the paper stock sources, displaying the total time of completion at the operator interface, displaying the amount of paper stock required from each of the paper stock sources, and initiating the job run and during the job run periodically determining the time to completion of the remaining portion of the job and displaying the time to completion in a prominent bar graph.
