Abstract: The present disclosure described herein relates to a device and method for managing access to a service of an account associated with an electronic device is provided. The method monitors a status of the account. If the account is inactive, then a notification is provided on the device indicating same with an option to reactivate the account. Upon reactivation of the account, access to the service is provided. In the device five modules are provided to: evaluate a status flag associated with the account; generate a notification on a display when the account is inactive; control access to the service related to the account depending on the status flag; generate and send an outbound message from the device to request reactivation of the account when requested; and monitor for receipt of a signal indicating approval of reactivation of the account and to update the status flag.
